I cannot tell you how happy I am with my Swimbait Muskie. Man, this thing is getting better and better as I learn more about it.
what is the most durable brand of hollow-body swimbait?
I fish for walleye and northern Swimbait Muskie pike, and the paddle tails of my swimbaits keep getting torn off by the teeth. I was wondering if anyone has any idea as to which brand is the most durable.

Actually Berkley makes a swimbait called a hollow belly swimbait or something like that. It comes with weighted hooks and 3 swimbaits for around 10 dollars. You can find them at bassproshops.com or berkely-fishing.com and may also be found in a baitshop. Hope this helps

Bob, the best lure for all fish has not been invented yet but different baits certainly will catch a myriad of species. all baits work only as good as they are presented to the fish specie you are targeting. I have many preferences that will work for halibut, bass, croakers, mackerel, sculpin and others but one for all and from a pier? Come on. here are two links that might help you best.

I would go with at least a 3/0 probably a 4/0 would be the best though. If they are weighted, a 3/8 ounce is always a good place to start and then go up or down for depth control

I have one each of the brands you have mentioned, as well as other brands. With the Tru-Tungsten and a Lucky Craft I had to clean the hinges out of paint over spray and they still do not have the freedom of movement the Spro BBZ-1 does. The Spro so impressed me I have sent 2 off to be custom painted. If you go with a Spro make sure and get the Blue Herring color….that is the only great color they have, in my book and why I sent my other two off to be repainted. Also get the fast sinking….you have more options with that one on how you can fish it.Also do not overlook the Sebile Magic Swimmer, another good swim bait with a good finish.

The main issue is the water temp. Bass will feed in this temp range but not as much as you would like. The jerk bait suggestion may work but I would recommend down sizing what ever you use and slow way down and then slow down some more. If you know where the shad are, that is a great place to start. Just keep it simple and slow. When the fish begin to come up to shore for the warmth, use the same technique just fish slow. Small baits, light line and persistence will be your key to success.

You Basswood for your fishing lures, i been useing them now for many years, ebony wood is hard and very hard to carve or shape, use good screws to hold your hooks on, put epoxy on them before you screw them in, paint your lures with a good wooden paint , start off with 2 coats of white than 2 coats of the color you like for your lure and finish with a couple coats of clear coat, dont forget to use large eyes in your wooden lures..most big fish strike its bait by the head, use can also use metal lips or plastic…poxy them in to, hooks i would use eagle claw lazer sharp.i guess you need to trail and aire makeing wooden lures, you will see what works for you the best. Good Luck Fishing.

I always have decent luck on lakes with poppers in the morning and jointed raps in the afternoon/evening.
