They can work, just like anything else. I get a lot of Strike King products for free through a buddy of mine, and I have tried the entire line of coffee baits. Yes, the tubes will catch fish, but I have found that they catch no more fish than my Yum, Chompers, or regular Strike King tubes. So to answer your question, I have seen no evidence of fish attacking the coffee tubes with more frequency than a regular tube. I do think the very natural and earthy colors that the coffee tubes come in are a big plus. I’m not saying it’s a gimmick, I just see no difference in my catch rate as compared to others. I do however, recommend the new Caffeine Shad if you like to fish flukes. The action on these baits is incredible, and I do think coffee works well as an attractant and “odor masker”.

They are great baits. They last ALOT longer then senkos and have great action.

“Pole Lox” is my favorite episode of The King of Queens. Doug is so funny in this episode. Carrie takes a pole dancing class, but she ends up being really bad at it, so Doug ends up showing her how to pole dance and he’s really good at it. lol!

Just some advice from an ol timer. Stay away from Strike King junk. That is all it is. Any tube will work just as well if not better than that tube. It is not the bait that catches the fish or gets the most strikes, it is the fisherman behind the rod making the lure seem real enough to eat. That is the whole key to fishing. Make the lure do things that live prey does. Knowing what a natural presentation is and not making the lure have an unnatural action or movement. Make a lure look like and act like a crawdad or minnow is the key.Slow is the right presentation in cold water. Slow way down and then go slower. barely crawl the bait.

If your fishing clear or ultra clear water I would go with an 8-10 lb fluorocarbon line. If the water is a bit stained you could get away with mono. Bouncing along the bottom is a good place to start. If your not getting bit doing that try changing up you retrieve and maybe go slower or faster. Also try a hard hop off the bottom and letting it fall slow at times you can get a reaction strike doing that. As far a rigging goes you can use a lead head jig that goes inside or I like to Texas rig my tubes so the weight falls away from the tube allowing it to be more buoyant as opposed to the weight being inside the tube with a jig head. Try a few presentations and let the fish tell you what they want.
