What can I use as a preservative to make......................................................................?
...a rainbow trout paste.I'm going to use a limit of 5 trout, between 10" and 12" long. I'm going to cut them into pieces (head, scales, fins, tail, bones, guts and all) and put them in the Lure Swimbait blender one trout at a time. I want to use this mixture as a rub to smear on big trout looking swimbait lures for largemouth bass. After it's done, I'm going to put the mess in small yogurt containers and keep it refrigerated, unless it doesn't amount to too much, then in that case I'll keep in one big peanut butter container. What all can I use to preserve the stuff so none of it goes bad? Also, what can I do to turn it into a sticky paste so it sticks to my lures while they're in the water and not come off? Can I add mollasses to it? Anything?Thank you. Please, please be specific with ingrediants.

You should be fine. Most rods can handle a little over there recommended allowances- and in this case, your only going over by .6 OZ. You’ll definitely be able to cast that lure to the MOON! Just remember- The further away you hook’em the odds are good your Bass will shake off or get too bogged down in the weeds to retrieve!I use a 7′ 6″ MH Spinning rod with Power Pro 8/40 line for froggin’ and it works great- up to about 45-50 yards. If I hook a bass beyond 50 yards my landing percentage goes down to 60%-70%- (depending on how heavy the weeds are). Hope this helped ya? Good luck and don’t catch’m all!

Try the Original A.C. Plug.I BELIEVE Allen Cole invented his A.C. Plug in the mid-seventies for trolling Pyramid Lake and the Colorado River in Nevada for giant Lahontan cutthroat and rainbow trout.Guys in California didn’t start using them for largemouth bass until the mid-eighties and early-nineties.

This particular morning began with a slight drizzle so the salmon would be on top.My rig, with a light 3 oz sinker, a sliver dodger, and a pink hoochie covering a herring plug, skirted just below the surface. I turned around to a loud flapping sound–a bald eagle came swooping down, from its perch on Signal Island. I was afraid the eagle would get hooked on my lure. My partner stopped the engine so the sinker and line would drop lower into the water. The eagle missed my lure, but flew off with a small humpie (pink salmon) in its talons.Guess he was a better fisherman than me.

Trout eat other small fish including trout because they are cannibals. They eat all sorts of insects to.I find the size 0 to 1 mepps or vibrax lures in silver or gold to be good. That lure you want is no good for trout.

If its hot, you only need one lure… a topwater frog. Something like a Strike King Rage Tail Toad. Make a long cast into the weeds and start cranking it in the moment it hits the water. The legs will start to churn at the surface like a buzzbait and no bass can resist it. When a bass blows up on it, don’t set the hook immediately… wait a couple seconds until you feeel the weight of the fish, then bring home the steel.

I always have decent luck on lakes with poppers in the morning and jointed raps in the afternoon/evening.

The preservative you need to use to keep the product from going bad is known as MSG- ( mono-sodium glutamate) It is available in nearly all grocery stores- the larger chain stores in a small bottle in a granular form. It will be located with the spices, salt and pepper section. Getting it to stick to your lures may be the bigger problem. Perhaps you could keep the mixture in a plastic container, and as you fished after 3 or 4 retrieves wipe your lure into the mixture to keep the smell strong enough. Sounds like a great idea.

Bob, the best lure for all fish has not been invented yet but different baits certainly will catch a myriad of species. all baits work only as good as they are presented to the fish specie you are targeting. I have many preferences that will work for halibut, bass, croakers, mackerel, sculpin and others but one for all and from a pier? Come on. here are two links that might help you best.

Lings mainly eat smaller rockfish. I’ve done best with jigs which mimic those colors: red and red/yellow jigs, though I’ve caught some nice lings on chrome diamond jigs as well. However, the chrome seems to attract more of the “less desirable” salmon groupers and jonny bass than the painted jigs.In 100-300 feet, large plastics also work — I used to have some huge “grubs” (about a foot long) on 12-24 ounce heads which worked on the lings. (I also once caught a 15 pound bonito on the sink on one of them.) In 200 feet or so you could get by with a plastic on a 6-8 ounce head if the weather’s calm.Basically, lings are big fish with big mouths, so stick with big baits. Lings will eat small stuff, too, but usually other smaller fish will get to them first. They hang out right on the bottom, so bounce the jig on the bottom as the boat drifts along.Big natural baits also work, like a 10 inch mackerel or sardine. In fact, that would be my choice these days. Lings spawn (and get aggressive) from around November through March, and that’s when you used to be able to get good numbers, especially on jigs — and that’s why there’s now a closed season. The rest of the year you have to work harder for them, and natural bait will usually work better.ADD:I just found big leadheads online at Charkbait:http://www.charkbait.com/cs/cscMoJo.htmScroll down, the leadheads are near the bottom. They don’t have 10 oz, but they have 8 and 12.
