In case you need some more details, here is a full description and review of Prism Nip:

In this review of Prism Nip, I am going to show you both the good and the bad. After all, what is a review without some honesty, right? First, I have to tell you upfront that Prism Nip is my favorite choice. Sure, there are other products in the same class, but frankly, none of them as good (in terms of quality). I do have to say this though. some other products may be better, but based on quality and price, Prism Nip is the clear winner.

What makes a triangular prism so special compared to a parallel sided glass block in refracting light?
When light is passed in a parallel sided Prism Nip glass block the light will bend towards the normal line in the block and then leave the block bending away from the normal. But when a light enters a triangular prism, it leaves the prism in a spectrum of colors. Why? What give the triangular prism this ability? Thanks :)

  1. Adam Says:

A prism diopter is basically an angular measurement; i.e. how far apart the visual axes are. One prism diopter is equal to a 1cm image displacement at a distance of 1m. So the minimum is zero, when the eyes are perfectly aligned. The maximum really depends on the anatomy of the eyes; if you’ve got one looking all the way to the right and the other looking all the way to the left, it could be well over 100. From the perspective of measuring it, my equipment doesn’t go much past 40, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen an actual prism lens over 45 or 60.

A prism has the same cross-section all along its length, so its volume is equal to the surface area of the cross-section multiplied by its length. The cross-section is in this case a trapezium, wherea = 5, the short parallel sideb = 7, the long parallel sideh = 4, the distance between the parallel sidesThe trapezium area = h(a+b)/2 = 4(5+7)/2 = 24 cm²So the prism volume is 24 * 15 = 360 cm³
