    Rapala 7′s or 9′s

I’ll probably get bashed for this being that most people on here seem to have a deep hatred for these lures but oh well. I’m a big fan of the Banjo Minnow system and have used the glowing minnow which the kit comes with and have done very well with them fishing after daylight. They have worked when absolutely nothing else would, especially for the Bass. I like fishing them fairly deep using a very slow retrieve imitating an injured or struggling baitfish the best I can. If you haven’t tried them they are well worth a shot and will pull you out a number of fish.

  3. Addicted2Fishing Says:

well the color of the water does have to do with what selection of lure to use but also the color of the minnows and baitfish that fish prey upon should have an even bigger influence…colors like silver, yellow, and blackish tend to work well. try using a small yellow 1/8 oz single blade spinnerbait. that will definately trigger all the species mentioned above. plastic worms that are scented between 4” and 8” should work well (try using a dark color like black or puple) and fish them slowly unless you are using a weight. Rapalas will work well for all 3 of these species as well…I recomment using a “perch” colored rapala that is like 4-6” that will get your engine started. hope I could help and hope you catch many fish!

For Bass? Try:1. 1/4 OZ GOLD-bladed single or double COLORADO Spinnerbait with a chartreuse/bright colored skirt. (In stained/muddy water Bass tend to find their prey with their lateral line. By using a Spinnerbait of some type, either an Inline or Short-arm, you can cover water quickly looking for actively feeding Bass.)Something like this- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_15394____SearchResults 2. A Paddle-tail worm, Swim Senko, Berkley T-tail Minnow or Ribbontailed Worm rigged weedless- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_90490____SearchResults- Swim Senko- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_90828____SearchResults-Berkley T-tail Minnow- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_10203507____SearchResultsColors? I’d start with darker colors first, (like Black, Red Shad, Black/Blue, Black/Grape, Dark Purple, Etc). Generally, Dark water- dark color soft plastic. Clear water- lighter color soft plastic lure. 3. A simple 3/8 – 1/2 OZ weedless Jig with a Spider Grub trailer- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_35904_100007003_100000000_100007000?cmCat=CROSSSELL_SEARCH(These mimic Crawdads effectively and you can “swim” them or jig them. Go with Crawdad colors OR Black/Blue.) Hope this helps ya?

Try fire frenzy or buzz baits. They work for me. Large tubes do equally as well. Muskie and walleye like larger lures than bass.

  6. oldbull Says:

for years the erie dearie has been used very successfully,it is still one of the best.bait it with a nightcrawler and you are ready to fish.

  8. StilleTot21 Says:

Rapalas have never failed me. To this day they remain my favorite lure, and have caught me everything from Crappie to Sauger.I’d recommend using a Shad Rap, Countdown, or maybe even the Original Minnow. My colors of choice would be Shad Rap- Bluegill, Shad, or Original. Countdown- Original, Perch.Original Minnow- Original, Perch.Rapalas come in separate sizes listed by a number, for all of these I probably wouldn’t go any lower than a 5 or 7.But i’ve also had a lot of luck with Storm Hot N’ Tots, so i’d recommend giving those a try too.Good Luck!

  9. Addicted2Fishing Says:

for Bass try using Berkley plastic worms (black, puple work well) with a twin tail (so it spins for better action. the plastic worm should be 4-8” long pending on the size of fish you want to catch…I personally prefer the scented ones because it is more attractive to the fish. For Walleye they love live bait…try using some type of spinning rig with rather a minnow, chub, or leech at the end of that rig. They also love Rapalas a well perch colored and whatever is native to the waters you are fishing…the Rapalas will catch you both Bass and Walleye so I’d give that a shot first…well best of luck to you and always remember that fishing cover usually holds the biggest fish.

Seen and used many mentioned here and they all work at different times and places. This is top secrete if you tell any body bad things might happen LOL Walley Divers if you can find them, many colors I use green, chartreuse, and red

  11. Charles Slone Says:

The best baits would be night crawlers, fished almost on the bottom. Other things work, but this works better than the rest. For lures, the Rapala Jointed is pretty good for Walleye. Also, curly-tailed jigs tipped with night crawlers will catch some Walleye too.

  12. butch Says:

I don’ fish but instead of the national chain stores – who would need home office approval try the Bait shops which are locally owned — talk to the owners in person – A couple of shops is BAC – on Pennisula Drivethere is one by the airportand poor richard’s in fairview i am only guessing but there might one at the dock as well.

  13. Ole Fisherman Says:

John & Bobber are totally accurate, (Thumbs up guys). If your fishing “bait” , (Fathead Minnows, Shiners, Nightcrawler’s, Etc), go with there suggestion’s on rigging. Here are some suggestions for lures, (from best to worse):1. 1/8-1/4 OZ Black jighead with a black Berkley Gulp Jigging Grub or a black 3″ Berkley Gulp Leech. This presentation mimics Leeches & Minnows and is very popular with tournament Walleye angler’s. Here are some links to these lures- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_10203515____SearchResults-Leech- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_98932____SearchResults2. 1/8-1/4 OZ Jighead with a small 2 1/2-3″ Crawtube- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_45768____SearchResults?ordProd=Y&CMID=BOTTOM_selectitems#itemDetail3. jigs, jig and minnow, jig and leech, jig and gulp minnow or similar plastic, a trolled rigged nightcrawler or leech, bottom running crankbaits and rapala style lures.or just live bait such as a minnow, leech or ‘crawler.

  15. durrrr Says:

For rocky areas, the best lure to fish would be a chartreuse colored crankbait. For areas where it’s sandy and got alot of humps, I’d just go with a bottom walker and a worm.

  16. Bruce M Says:

Here I end up with jig heads and “grubs” mostly green or white in color weight depends on the rod I want to use that day from 1/8 to 1/4 Oz heads. The larger heads are good for casting into deeper pools of water and the lighter ones for shallow slower moving waters. Nice thing is, you can get a pack of heads and a pack or two of grubs for less the $10. and fish for days with good results. If your in the US head for walmart I use the plain un painted ones and the basic plastic grubs.
