If you bass fishing, i would definitely go with Senko’s and a 3/0 hook. They are a personal favorite and they are very easy to fish. The best way is called WACKY style. Cast… let sit… and watch your line. The slightest line movement you set the hook!I’ve included a link to a site that has images as well that will help you setup your rig and show you what to do, good luck!http://www.probassfishing.ca/articles/senko-worm-tactics.html

You have several options. The Texas rig which is most common.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5h-GD2QP5hwthe video doesnt mention it, but your should put a bullet weight on the line.Thw Wacky rig.Just hook the worm once right through the middle. http://www.lunkerhunt.com/images/FT_wacky.jpgOr the carolina righttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPBt_LixMaI

Holy crap, GMB, You named every color in the Bass Pro Catalog!! LOL Thumbs up Brother! : ) Brian, here’s the deal; there’s no such thing as best color fishing lure because every location demands something different. The water clarity and fish pretty much dictate what you’ll be using. For me, it’s simple to tell you what I fave but will it work for you? Probably but then if it doesn’t you’ll get frustrated with the area. For me, I always lean towards the Pumpkin seed but it doesn’t always work. I have to work my way to motor oil or down to black and then get into off the wall colors like pinks and yellows. See what I’m saying? Only you can determine the colors for your area because you are the one who fishes there the most. I have to tell ya this though, the fluke, I like the split tails in baby bass color. Don’t even get me started with that! ; ) ~good luck catchin’

I have found that Senko’s work best (for me) when fished Wacky style. The best retrieve I’ve found for Senko’s rigged Wacky is a “Pulse, Pulse, Pulse, Fall” retrieve. The Bass (90% of the time)will hit it on the Fall. I generally never fish a Senko larger than 5″- 4″ being about “perfect” for most situations. Your mistake may be in the size of the Senko or the color……? Senko’s really ARE a type of finesse worm and have very little natural “action”, (other than the “shimmy” on the fall which Wacky rigging makes more prominent). Maybe try a smaller sized Senko, rig it Wacky, and try going with a better color? Here’s some of my fav colors & brands for Senko- http://cgi.ebay.com/5-Stick-Senko-100-ct-Bass-Plastic-Worm-GrnPump-PSeedL_W0QQitemZ290302952736QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item290302952736&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50For dark/stained water- http://cgi.ebay.com/100-pk-4-Stick-Senko-Bass-Plastics-Worm-GrnPumpPurple_W0QQitemZ290309392166QQihZ019QQcategoryZ31691QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262http://cgi.ebay.com/100-ct-4-Stick-Senko-Bass-Lure-Plastic-Worm-WaterRed_W0QQitemZ290302272768QQihZ019QQcategoryZ31691QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262http://cgi.ebay.com/100-bag-4-Stick-Senko-Bass-Worm-Avocado-Gold_W0QQitemZ290304437187QQihZ019QQcategoryZ31691QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262Hope this gives you some idea’s? dont use any of those crummy lures. you are wasting your money and time. use CURLY TAIL JIGS best thing in the world for lures you can catch anything bass pike pikerel etc!!!!!

  9. bassplayer_1313 Says:

l would use a 4″ or 6″ senko type sorta’ worm. they are bulky and heavy enough to get a pretty fair cast on my B/C outfits. the trick worm is a good worm but l prefer using it on a drop-shot rig.slug-gos can be fished the same as the senkos too. l like the small ones with a spinning outfit. and they can be skipped underneath docks for crappie.

  10. BLUE TIGER Says:

Murkey water your need a lure that makes lots of vibrations or noise, fish feed by sound then smell, try a gold spinner in front of your lure or put a white twister tail on your spoon, try different combos of noisy lures and fish them real Slow.

  11. foo Says:

i normally have to polls rigged. one with a popper, or some type of topwater lure, and another with a stickbait like a senko. i mostly use senkos anyway because they work AMAZINGLY!! but if i am using a buzzbait for example and they miss it i imediatley pick up my senko and cast it. 8-10 times the fish will eat it. if this doesnt work a buddy of mine taught me a good trick. if you still want to use the popper or the senko doesnt work, wait a good 2 min. to cast there and dont over cast to the area where you got the hit, or else it will scare the fish. if i stick with the popper i will cast about 10 feet from where i got the first strike. but if not you gota go senko!! i personally like it wacky rigged.

  12. Andy J Says:

That has beed one of the most productive fishing methods I have ever used. It really works thoughout the year but shines around post spawn like the other poster mentioned. Yamamoto’s Senkos come in various sizes so you can experiment by changing it up thoughout the season. Yamamoto lures are nice but expensive. Any “Senko” spin off style will produce results.Don’t trouble yourself too much regarding colors. Greens and reds seem to be great all around colors. Let the lure do the work…fish are highly sensitive when it comes to detecting movement, even in dingy water. Try different speeds and depths to see what fish will hit.Find the “center” of the lure, where the weight is even on both sides and peirce the hook through the center. Try a little superglue and you may get more life from the lure. I have seen different size hooks used, I simply use a 4/0 or 5/0 with the 5″ to 6″ lures. and am able to catch the smallest to the biggest bass. It is a good lure to fish shallows and even skip under docks and peirs. It is suprisingly snagproof. Keep an eye on it during the retrieve and make sure it isn’t spinning and twisting you line. Also you can weight it and go deeper.Keep an arsenal of these lures handy around spring time…bass will hit so hard and it make for real fun fishing.
