Minnows fished from river to pond?
OK i live in Ohio and i caught some shiner minnows in a river Minnows Fishing around 1000+ and took out the ones that didn't look like minnows. So when i feed the minnows i see 5-7 inch fish that look like carp and i have no clue if there just major minnows or carp?

Obviously they will add a load to the pond. The tank is only as dirty as how much you feed its residents so I would say that they are adding a decent load to it. You might want to check the water conditions, unless you have pond plants growing in it (in which case I should say that they might grow very huge from this).

As long as you have a good little filter on it, yes, you could keep 3 white clouds and 2 corys in it. Although, both species of fish would do better with more of their kind in a tank with them.I would upgrade to a 10g tank and get 6-8 white clouds and 4-6 corys. They would do fine in a 10g with a good filter.8

are these the dead things that come in a jar or baggie?try ‘em but don’t get your hopes up. l’ve never done well on preserved minnows. might be the formaldehyde. l suppose cats might bite them but for trout, l would stick to more traditional baits : worms, eggs, power bait. most likely do best with small spinners and spoons. the thomas buoyant is hot. a panther martin is another good one.try a fly and a bubble if using spinning gear. that may be something new for you. it works.

The tank is big enough to handle the extra fish. I would be worried about disease. Keep a good eye on them for the next couple of weeks.

Bass, Trout, Crappie, Catfish and even large Bluegill will take a minnow, depending on the size of it. Smaller minnows used for Crappie, Bluegill & Trout, with larger minnows for Catfish & Bass.Hope i helped ya out.

Well seems like your doing the right thing with fishing around wooden structure. Also don’t forget about any wooden structure that is on the windy side of the lake, this will push plankton, bugs, and bait fish near the shore. The wind causes waves which will knock any plankton or small crustaceans off logs, or out of rocks. Keep fishing the wooden structure, don’t forget about the windy side of the lake, use that fish finder, and get after em’! It wont be to much longer before they start stacking up around shallow wood structure to spawn, then you can really rip some lips. Also if you have looked closely, on the logs, trees or what not, that are shallow, they have algae/moss and that also attracts the bait fish because they like to nibble on it. As far as using a jig or minnow, i would say use a jig, like a crappie magnet first. If the bite is tough and you’re not catching very many then go to the minnow. If the bite gets even tougher, and they have “lockjaw” then go with a jig tipped with a minnow. or a jig tipped with a piece of night crawler. Hope this helps, Good luck fishin’!

Mister is right. Species can’t change or morph in one life cycle. Baby Carp = Big Carp. Most minnows are called shiners or shad, and are usually a type of bass.
