Studies by bass fishing experts have proved a few things: black (dark colors) work well in thickly murky water, dark does not reflect light but absorbs it and in stained water it makes baits look bigger. Which might make it get hit more often. BUT! colors clearly more visible at different depths are also a known, such as: the entire blue spectrum, purples and even magenta is seen much better by bass in deeper water. While clear baits with spec (glitter), earth tones, tans, oranges, browns, green and the like are seen better by bass in shallower water. That is not to say anything might work in any given circumstance. Bubble gum looks like what? Still sometimes it works. Preference comes from time on the water, given similar circumstances that set up the opportunity to try certain colors in certain conditions. One time, I caught only one fish on one bait though I casted it twelve times I had changed baits five times and caught one fish on the first cast of every bait I casted over an hour. so I established that as a pattern, one caught change bait. I caught twenty fish that day and not two on the same bait.

from the pictures ive seen it looks like an all american fender stratacaster bass. but, i dont know. and u could probly find it at your local guitar or music store. hope i helped.

lisa your picture is smokin hot! The best top water bait of all time is the heddon lucky 13You should also know any crankbait can be fished on the top and my favorite is the deep diving bomber long A. See, the secret to all top water fishing though is presentation.With in line spinners you have to engage your reel and be retrieving the bait before it hits the water that way it doesn’t dead splash down. Which attracts the fish but it beginning to sink and then take off isn’t natural. When the in line spinner however is already on the move it gets their attention but in no un natural way that a simple bait fish having hit the surface wouldn’t have done.With the crank style topwaters baits poppers, spooks, frogs, pencil poppers, cigars and flotant’s. the secret is to cast and let it sit until the rings it made (when it hit down in the water ) are completely gone. I live in Louisiana where some of the water is always looking like it is the color of coffee with too much creamer in it. But even so, you might catch a limit of bass fairly quickly when they are biting good. The only problem is that if the carp are grass carp and have eaten all the grass the bass will have a problem with their eggs hatching out if the bottom is too muddy. The eggs will be covered in muddy silt and there will be for the most part a problem with spawning.But if it is any grass in the pond the bass will be more successful in hatching out eggs.

If they are actually in shallow water and feeding at the time you decide to fish, then you might want to start working some top-water baits. Crank bait, poppers, and buzz baits are usually effective in shallow water.The thing is, there aren’t a lot of times when bass are active in shallow water, depending on what your definition of shallow is. Largemouth bass are ambush predators. They like to lurk in cover and attack with a short, quick strike. They are often found deeper than their prey around points or downhill of a dropoff looking up or in submerged cover.
