In this review of Shakespeare Ugly, I’m going to show you both the good and the bad. After all, what’s a review without some honesty, right? First, I have to tell you upfront that Shakespeare Ugly is my favorite choice. Sure, there’s other products in the same class, but frankly, none of them as good (in terms of quality). I do have to say this though. some other products may be better, but based on quality and price, Shakespeare Ugly is the clear winner.
will the shakespeare ugly stik BWS1100 7' rod work with the Penn Sargus Sg8000 reel?
I have this rod with a crappy reel on it Shakespeare Ugly and im trying to find a nicer reel to put on that can hold a little more line weight.. also will the Penn CQR7000 Conquer reel work on this rod? il take suggestions on reels as well im going to be using it on the gulf coast of florida mostly on piers

All I could fine is that it is spooled with “Shakespeare Supreme fishing line”. It’s not uncommon for reels to have sat on the shelf for 3-years or more. Monofilament fishing line goes bad after about one year, sometimes earlier. Your reel’s line is more than likely old and full of memory. Even NEW Shakespeare fishing line is “mediocre” at best. Why have BAD, old fishing line?Trilene XL is the smoothest casting, tangle-free monofilament fishing line you can buy for cheap. You can get one of those 110-yard spools, which will normally fill an average sized fishing reel up, for $3.50 or so at Wal-Mart. Look for 8lb line, it is the best overall and will work for most freshwater applications.
