Yes.On the weekend, I caught 3 smallmouth bass (biggest was maybe 3lbs), and 12 walleye, all in about 4 hours, including switching lakes. The bass were slow, but it was a cloudy day in a spot I’ve never fished. Walleye were hitting very nicely.I find bass hit best on slow presentations this time of year. Actually, I used the same jig for all those fish, a chartreuse jighead with a white Yum plastic grub. Never even busted out the worms! I fished the bass with it in the afternoon, and the walleye in the evening. Walleye are starting to go deep during the day, but in the evening, the bite can very ferocious in shallow areas, close to weeds,. rocks and dropoffs. My technique of the day was to slowly slowly drag the jig along the bottom. That’s it! And somehow I never got snagged, and caught 15 fish without re tying.. My buddy caught 0 bass with his crankbaits! haha.So in the end, my woman wasn’t mad that I got home so late because I brought 11 tasty friends!!!

Walleye for sure. In northern minnesota every pothole and creek as well as most every lake has northern pike that jump on your hook just to look at it it seemes. Especially the smaller ones. Walleye are fairly common but not as easy to catch.

Yes Gulp does live up to its advertising. There are several things to consider when using this though. Do you want to have to keep changing live bait all the time? Its cleaner with Gulp. There are places that will not allow live bait. If you are going from the states into Canada to fish, they will not let you bring live bait. It all comes down to a choice. A big thing to remember is do you have confidence in the product. That is a factor that helps catch a large number of fish

There is nothing like a Jitterbug and Hulapopper. Those two are the classic bass lures. Also try a worm with a spinner, that way it stays relatively close to the top of the water.EDIT: I find black Jitterbugs are the best, but the greenish ones work great too!

Use flourocarbon leaders in 40#. We use it for mackerel and the teeth on them are fierce. The flourocarbon is invisible to fish.

  6. machman4 Says:

Perch love worms. Fish a weed bed about 13 ft deep and jig a large worm or small minnow, but watch out for pike, they like those too.Bass prefer slow, deep rivers and lakes where calm areas have weed beds. Cast live bait, imitation bait, and surface lures to these shallow areas in the morning and evening when they feed, but play spinners and diving plugs deeper in the afternoon.Walleye love worm harnesses. Troll them in about 60 ft deep areas anytime, but better luck in morning and evening. Use different color harnesses for different water clarities: Orange, yellow and red for work well for murky, silver, blue, green, and gold for clear. You can also buy walleye lures in these colors from sporting goods stores and Wal-Mart. Hot’n tots work in some areas as well. WARNING: When walleye are pulled up to a depth of about 10 ft, they dive straight down.

  7. Malty21 Says:

Worms and grubs are cool for that area. It will depend on color, location, and skill after that. spinners in shallow water will get you hung up especially on the river rock. I’d go with a good drop shot or Texas Rig and worms.
