No, A steelhead is a trout, and a Salmon is a Salmon, although both are part of the same family of fishes known as Salmonids, which include salmon, trout, and char. Salmon and Steelhead are closely related in that both are andronamous fishes, which means they are born in freshwater, then run out to sea to live for several years, then return to Spawn. The one difference in this behaviour is that the salmon enter the rivers and do not eat, which makes them very hard to catch, (although it can be done) and they spawn once and die. Steelhead WILL eat in freshwater while on their spawning run, and do not die, they can return to the ocean and back to spawn annually, as long as they survive. also there are great lakes salmon and steelhead, which spend their entire lives in freshwater, and use the great lakes as their oceans.

similar, but steel head trout is better. Firmer, with a better flavor.
