Questions about fresh water ecosystem?
I have a creek in my backyard that is about 100 feet away from a spring that creates the creek. Anyway, I was looking at the deep part of the creek (which is very slow moving) and I saw what I have heard Spring Craw called "mud puppies". It looks like a salamander (spring lizard) with gills. Also, there was a craw dad. Usually, there are nothing but frogs, and everyone in a while I will find a salamander or craw dad. But this year, they were both out in the open together. I was wonder if there was anything I could do to help keep them healthy, that way the creek can be come a very healthy ecosystem. I know people say to let nature do the work, but is there anything I can do to help?

im not sure what that is. But if u have any plants around they might be plant mites. ive had those but the were more white then transperent. If there are alot of them it may become a problem. You may have to have a bug inspector come and check them out. But if u live by any local big plant store, they might have proffesionals their that can give you the right stuff, but for that you would have to bring a couple of bugs to show. Hope this helps!

To make fresh water for my pond fish, I fill a large pail with water and let it sit for at least a week before dumping it in. This ensures that all of the chemicals that will harm them evaporate. When changing the water, I only empty 3 quarters of the tank to prevent them from being shocked. My tank isn’t spotless but neither are the lakes and ponds the fish come from. Naturally, algae forms and I have a feeling the fish need this in the water. I change the water every other week, and there is no odor.I have no professional resource or expertise but I have had many different pond fish and bottom feeders, each of which lasted at least 15 years!
