20 years old , never had a job before , and absolutely no luck in finding one??
heres the story, just turned 20 a few weeks ago, my parents have spoon fed me my entire life,i have been moved out on my town to a new city 9 months ago,my parents are paying for everything i have never had a job before in my life, did not graduate from high school,I did however recieve Spoon Retail my GED right before i moved,in the past 9 months i have been living on my own, have applied at about 200 places around the city(kansas city,MO)and have only been called back for 3 interviews during this whole time. these are all places that a GED makes me eligible for employment , such as cashier, sales, fast food, grocerystores, retail I come from a nice, considerably wealthy all american family, and im no way trashy or unpresentable, always make sure i look great, have the most pleasant attitude i can have,am well spoken, genuinely nice and sincere.after being here so long and no sucess i am starting to worry that a GED,not graduating from a high school,is the cause,or no experince ever at age 20? Any feedback??

The first question that I have is: how long have you been working in that retail store? The second: how long has it been going on?The reason why I asked is because it can be a physical issue and not a mental/psychological one here. It could be that your eyes are becoming more and more sensitive to light (and thus bright objects). I have a feeling that it would also hurt, and perhaps even more, if your eyes were to be hit by the reflection of a mirror, as those reflections are usually more intense than those from shiny objects such as spoons etc. I’d recommend a visit to an optometrist and have your eyes checked to be safe. I have similar experiences like you do, but I think I know what led to my problem. I used to like looking into the sun for longer than necessary when I was little, which could have caused some damage to my eyes then. And now my eyes are more sensitive to light than I used to be, even long hours working under the desk lamp hurts.

Soup and chili are dishes that restaurants can make a lot of money on. For that amount of money Wendy doesn’t lose a cent, don’t worry about their financial status. They don’t worry for ours,

I really don’t think a GED is the problem. I had to drop out of school at 17 and get my GED and I’ve never had problems finding work. I lived on the Kansas side of KC in Johnson County for about three years and while there, I worked as a shift leader at Hardees, a seasonal employee at K-Mart, and at Dillards Distro in Olathe. I never had any problems finding a job. It’s possible that they don’t want to hire you because you’re 20 and you have no experience. A lot of people now start working part-time while in high school and employers will usually choose to hire someone who is younger but has experience of some sort over someone who is older but has never worked. I would just keep trying. You might try Dillards Distro or some of the other warehouse and distribution centers, they usually want to hire guys and will probably be willing to take a chance on you. The UPS center in Lenexa was also always hiring while I was there. If nothing else, you may have to work at McDonalds or somewhere similar for a few months just to have some experience to put down on your applications.I also agree with the above poster about going to school. I would at least go part-time. You might be able to find a career there that works for you and until you graduate it would be something to put down on your applications to show that you’re willing to make the effort.

PBS had a good piece on the other day. it was called the 50 best places in the US to eat homemade ice cream or something like that. Well, what I can say in short is that if things are going well for you then just leave it be. True homemade ice cream when making bulk amounts that are going to be consumed immediately is a very expensive process and a challenge in its own right. to incorporate this into an already established business could be disastrous. Most homemade shops do only one thing…make homemade ice cream. they dont sell burgers for a reason. its a very detailed and expensive process.

Sometimes family has a lot of influence. Usually the wealthy want their children to marry equal or higher. Because your ex boyfriend will be the heir to his parents financial wealthy, he is going to do what his mother tells him or suggest. This is just one man you encountered like this, there are men in your ex’s financial position who desire a humble, grounded, wholesome lady like yourself. Unfortunately, it is what it is in your situation (like you said) out of HIS and HIS MOTHER’S league.Continue to be you and continue to work toward your goals. Its his loss not yours. Most likely if he marries someone on his so called level, she will never be happy and will always want more.
