I have caught catfish on all three. I’ve caugh more catfish on plastic worms though. As for fishing these lures, the way I’m gonna tell ya may not be the proper way to fish ‘em, however I have caught many fish with my techuines. Including my biggest ever off of a deep diver crankbait, which was right at 12 lbs.Plastic worms: Weather you fish them Texas or Carolina rigged. Work them as slow as possible!Jigs: There’s usually only one time of the year when I fish with jigs and swimbaits. And thats during the fall. All of my jigs are 3/4 oz and I like to throw them in the heavys cover that I can find. 85% of the time while fishing like this I can produce 5+ pounders. It’s really the only thing in my tackle box, that I’m able to get down in the cover and do so much damage (get down with the big boys/girls lol) with. Plastic worms usually get hung up, weather it be the sinker or the hook. But with a 3/4 oz jig I can work it out of there if it gets hung up.Spinnerbaits & Crankbaits: I fish both of these pretty much the same, a stop and go retrive. The only difference that I can think of is I do more (soft) jerking with crankbaits. But back to the spinnerbait. I “always” fish the same way over and over no matter the size or color of the spinnerbait/s. I throw as far as possible (never near the shore) and work it rather slow, giving a quick pause every now and then to let it fall back down. Again everyone has their own ways. This is only the way I fish my lures. But I have found it to be very produtive, with the way that I fish them.Good luck!

  5. David Says:

The temperature factor is what you need to be aware of. Try keeping the plastics covered and out of the sun. Conceivably you could even cool them with ice or something but I have never needed to do that.

  6. Bobby Says:

You might be able to make a deal with a bait shop or Marina to sell or display them.

  9. Grand Master BasserĀ® Says:

BooYah! jigs are meant to target smallmouth and largemouth bass. Add a plastic crawfish to the yellow/brown as a trailer, and you’ll be set.The blue/black jig would be better in darker water or at night maybe, and the yellow/brown jig would be better in murky or muddy water.

  12. Brandon W Says:

Kinda but no. You can slow roll a spinnerbait along the bottom but they have blades that are designed to spin to create vibration and flash. spinnerbaits are kinda like jigs w/ blades… kinda. As I said you can slow roll them or reel them straight

  13. goiserclause Says:

i have used the extreme action slashbait for bass fishing and it is mildly effective. I basically reel it slow and work it very minimally since it has so much action on its own

  14. John Says:

This is a great question. There are so many different styles of jigs on the market now. Arky jig and a football jig are my two choices. If you’re fishing wood or an area with lots of structure with snags of wood the Arky Jig will come thru the snags easier without getting snagged. I’ll work the Arky jig with my rod tip at the 10 o’clock possion to the 11 o’clock possion dropping the jig over each branch and back to the bottom. Remember to keep a little bow in your line and watch for your line to jump. Then there is the football jig. I use the football jig when i’m fishing rock or mud banks. I usually will drag the football jig by having my rod pointed towards the water 5 o’clock or 7 o’clock and sweep my rod tip. I usually work the football jig very slowly and even let the jig sit and shake my rod tip a little. This will cause the jig to stand up and look like a crawdad tring to defend its self. Watch your rod tip closely because sometimes you dont’ feel the bite as much as seeing your rod tip move. For trailers I will use pork if the water temp is 55 deg or colder on the Arky Jig. On the football jig I almost always use a grub trailer either a twin tail or a single tail yamamoto trailer. I’ve found when fishing a red mud bank or muddy water if I use a single tail yamamoto trailer with the curl of the trailer pointed down which moves more dirt, I’ll get more bites. I’ll use the twin tail trailers when i’m fishing rocks or swiming the jig. Since you’re buying your first Jigs I would recommend you buying the arky jig any brand name to start with. Go to your local tackle store and ask for the less expensive arky jigs they have. Stay with simple colors like all brown or all black. I will use black on dark days and muddy water conditions and brown on clear days with clear water. Remember to work the jig slowly and try to keep it moving. Shaking your rod tip will keep your jig looking like a crawdad defensive mode and an easy meal to a bass. You are on your way to catching larger bass. There is no doubt that the jig will catch larger bass and more of them then any other lure on the market today. After you have more confidence in your arky jigs go out and buy some football jigs and try them. Check out this site for your football jigs. http://www.berserkbaits.comThey will make home made jigs to your liking, I use their football jigs.I hope this helpsTight linesJohn

  15. Think Tankā„¢ II Says:

Depend of what kind of jig you are making and the mechanisms. Check the specifications of the materials you are using to build the jig.

  16. Backwater Charlie Says:

Mono & braid are both good for fishing a jig. I don’t use braid because it has the visibility of a light bulb in a dark room. I would stick with an abrasion resistant mono. I would use 10-12 lb. for light cover jig fishing, and 14-20 lb. for the heavy cover (where the big boys stay). May i also say, i have had great luck with a “Bass Pro Shops Pro Enticer Football Jig” with a “Berkley 3″ or 4″ Chigger Craw” trailer. My all time favorite jig color is PB & J (Peanut Butter & Jelly.). For the jig, i like both the 1/2 & 1/4 oz. sizes. For the 1/2 oz. PB & J jig, i use a 4″ Berkley Chigger Craw in pumpkin green. For the 1/4 oz. PB & J jig, i use a 3″ Berkley Chigger Craw in pumpkin green.Happy fishing.

  17. redhed311 Says:

A jig is a type of lively dance music of Irish origin. You might see the term “gigue” used as well. They’re most commonly in 6/8 time, but other meters are used too.An air is just basically a song.A polka is another type of lively dance music. It’s usually in duple meter. It originated in central Europe (Poland, Czech Republic, etc.)

  18. bassplayer_1313 Says:

l have had good results with the “arkie” rattles i’ve gotten at walmart. my biggest problem with them is fitting them into the tiny holes on the holders. but once on, the only ones l’ve lost was when l lost the whole jig in a snag.l didn’t find any l liked at BPS either. they had lindys or something like that but l don’t care for them. l do like the arkies. :)
