What can I build out of wood scraps with a jig saw and a drill?
I have plenty of wood scraps and would like to make something out of them. I have Jig Retail a jig saw and a drill, also like hammers, nails, screws, and drill bits to work with. I prefer smaller projects like a bird house and boxes, not like bookcases and big pieces of furniture. If there are any good websites with small woodworking project ideas on them post them too. Thanks

I almost never use the same color head as my tube, curly tail, marabou jigs. Color combinations can be the answer sometimes. I generally only use unpainted, chartreuse, white, or black jig heads. I don’t really want them to blend. Since I’m not a fish, I don’t know exactly how they are perceiving the color. I just want to make sure that something gives them interest.

Weedless football headed jig.. Go with dark green/blue/black. those colors work well, thrown on a crawfish trailer and jig it through the structure. Dont be afraid to get hung up it happens. Also, fish it in structure near steep drop-offs, ill guarantee you get bites. Hold on to your shoulders!

Drill pilot holes on one section, screw in double end screws- (pointed on both ends) screw in all but an 1/8 tip- now tap your joining piece against the tips- that marks them- if you have a good eye and steady hand you can do this, if need be, warble the hole to make it fit, then fill with wood putty.

I have always had very good luck with a combination Freud carbide tipped blade for my circular saws. With the cost of wood so high, using cheap blades is not the way to save money. Get a good carbide tipped blade. It will last longer and make better cuts. For the jig saw, I would suggest you stay with Skil saw blades. Be careful to choose blades specific for your application. There are many different choices depending on what you are cutting, from metal to plywood or laminate. With a little planning and care, you can make some very nice things with just a Skil saw and a good blade.

no, the plastic will not melt as it is designed to withstand the oven temp and to keep the bird in a position to bake more thoroughly as you would want it to, so don’t remove it until it is being carved………have a joyous holiday…

There are several easy jigs to start with…Minnie Hyne, Paddy’s leather breeches, Cork Hill. You do understand that they are 6/8 timing and jigs are pulsed 1.23, 1.23 or sometimes 12.3, 12.3 depending on the jig. Leave 9/8s alone for now. Do an internet search for bagpipe jig lessons. There’s a site by a former Scots Guard PM that does an online lesson on Paddy’s. Well worth the listen.

If a hook is to big. Put a couple of straight pins in your tackle box or safety pins will work.

Jig mold for what?
December 18th, 2010 at 5:13 pm
a circular saw is use for making straight accurate cuts whereas a jig saw can be used to make irregular cuts as in scroll work, etc.

A handheld ,jig saw, sabre saw, bayonet saw,.. are all the same thing.A handheld saw with a thin blade for cutting curves. Buy a good one, the one I have came from Porter-Cable..on a cheap one the blade will flex..a benchtop jigsaw and a scroll saw are the same thing…if you buy one of these get variable speed, and the ability to use plain or pin end blades, again buy a good one, at least 16 inches mine is from Sears..To correct something above.. A skil saw is a brand name for a handheld circular saw Porter Cable make the best ones…

Feeling a bite can be tricky if you’re using mono fishing line. Mono line has more stretch in it than many other lines on the market. Try flourocarbon. Berkley Vanish is one of my favorites. Not only is the stretch lower, but it is nearly invisible in the water, making your bait look more natural. Use a heavy line, 15 pound test to 25 pound test, and set the hook HARD! Next, add a little spice, like a pork frog chunk. The bass will hold your bait a little longer giving you more time to set the hook. The last thing would be to either keep your finger on the line as you work the bait, or choke up on the rod a little and put your finger directly on the exposed blank (the part before the handle). You will feel even the slightest of nibbles this way. As a side note, be sure to use a longer rod (6’6” – 7′) and be sure it has a stiff flex, it helps the jig penetrate the boney upper jaw of the mouth better.

Wrap it with thread and then superglue it. Works good. I’ve wrapped plenty of treble hooks with Flashabou to put on my Topwater lures. (I also put a “dessed treble” on a Husky Jerk and it works well.)Hope this helps ya bro?

> Shakespearean danceShakespearean Dance — dancing in the time and plays of William Shakespeare and his contemporaries. There are references to dances such as the galliard or sinkapace, lavolta, coranto, pavane, and canary, and stage directions indicate dancing in many plays including Romeo and Juliet, Much Ado About Nothing, Twelfth Night, or What You Will, Macbeth, and As You Like It. Terms like ‘measure’ and ‘foot it’ can also refer to dancing, and dance is often woven into the plot as part of a masque or masquerade ball, especially in plays by John Marston. The lavolta (plural: lavoltas) is an anglicized name for a Renaissance dance for couples from the later Renaissance. … Scene from As you like it, Francis Hayman, c. … Costume for a Knight, by Inigo Jones: the plumed helmet, the heroic torso in armour and other conventions were still employed for opera seria in the 18th century. … A masquerade ball (or masque) is an event which the participants attend in costume, usually including a mask. … John Marston (October 7, 1576 – June 25, 1634) was an English poet, playwright and satirist during the Elizabethan and Jacobean periods. … There is no known dancing instruction manual for English dances of Shakespeare’s time, but there are descriptions of almains and the measures in the Inns of Court manuscripts (see Payne), mentions of morris dance in church court and civic records (see Forrest), and large sections of dancing in court masques (see Welsford). Other dances referred to in English Renaissance plays such as the galliard, pavane, and lavolta are described in French and Italian dancing manuals by Thoinot Arbeau and Fabritio Caroso among others. Some of the country dances Shakespeare mentions appear in John Playford’s The English Dancing Master (1651), but Playford’s choreographies probably differ from the versions performed on the Shakespearean stage. Costume for a Knight, by Inigo Jones: the plumed helmet, the heroic torso in armour and other conventions were still employed for opera seria in the 18th century. … The pavane is a processional dance common in Europe during the 16th century, whether named from an origin in Padua (padovano), from Sanskrit meaning wind, or from the stately sweep of a ladys train likened to a peacocks tail. … The lavolta (plural: lavoltas) is an anglicized name for a Renaissance dance for couples from the later Renaissance. … Fabritio Caroso da Sermoneta was a famous Italian Renaissance dancing master. … Jigs often followed performances of plays in late sixteenth- and early seventeenth-century England, but we know very little about the actual steps of this dance (see Baskerville).http://www.nationmaster.com/encyclopedia/Shakespearean-dance====================================Shakespeare’s Life & Times(In no particular order.)http://absoluteshakespeare.com/http://www.bardweb.net/man.htmlhttp://shakespeare.mit.edu/works.htmlhttp://internetshakespeare.uvic.ca/index.htmlhttp://www.it.usyd.edu.au/~matty/Shakespeare/http://shakespeare.palomar.edu/life.htm#Historyhttp://www.dlhoffman.com/publiclibrary/Shakespeare/life.htmlhttp://www.absoluteastronomy.com/topics/William_Shakespearehttp://www.easternct.edu/smithlibrary/library1/shakespeare/life.htm

Would’nt use a router as a way to “mill” the table surface .Have an unheated garage workshop & rust is a problem.I use a sanding disc w/ scotchbrite pads instead of paper. They do not “cut” the metal & just scrub surface rust off.Been doing it for years & no problem w/ keeping tool surfaces true.I use them dry & then coat the cast table surfaces w/ pastewax to protect the raw metal between uses.Found it to be better than coating w/ oil or silicone spray .Best regards

From the article titled, “10 Top Lures for Multi-Species Fishing” (see source) if you’re headed for a river, tie on a BOOYAH Bed Bug and be ready to catch various species of black bass, walleyes, rock bass and more. The specific mix depends, of course, on the kinds of fish that call a particular river home, but this roundhead jig is ideal for working down rocky banks in most rivers.

Hold the rod high and let out a lot of line as soon as the jig hits the water, if you don’t it’ll sink at an angle toward the boat or shoreline or whatever. Lower the rod as the lure’s sinking to follow the jig down so you don’t miss a strike. A lot of times, bass will hit jigs and plastics on the way down.
