    Yes you can given that you find the correct size. Marching sizes can exceed in sizes of 26+ and many companies have limited kinds of bass drum heads that are more than 24″. Keep in mind that Drum set heads are built for tone and resonance. Marching heads are tone and projection. You may put a drum set head on a marching head, only to have it sound like cardboard from 50 feet away. You want that boominess to last for a second or two after struck. You can experiment, but that gets pricey as Bass drum heads are around $50 a pop. I’d stick to what works unless someone else has already tried and experimented.

    Not all bass drum heads have holes in them. It’s just a matter of personal preference.I’ve been playing drum set for quite some time, and after owning heads both with and without the hole, I really don’t have a preference either way.If you’re planning on recording any time soon, the hole definitely makes internal microphone placement a whole lot easier.If you really want to cut a whole in your bass drum, you do it by placing a round object, such as a saucer, on the head and cutting around it with a box cutter.
