Anyone know of a way to make water glow red?
I'm throwing a Halloween party and I thought it would add a bit of fun to make my water from the tap - in bathrooms - glow red (like blood). Glow Red Obviously I don't want to actually turn the water red. But is there anything I can do to make water appear to be red. Maybe I watch too many scifi shows and that's why I think such a thing could be possible.I hope I'm making myself clear. If anyone has any ideas as to what I could do I'd appreciate it. I have an idea, though, that I'm getting out of my league (lol).

There are certainly “hot spots” around Chernobyl but I wouldn’t have thought radiation would have caused discolouration. Part of the problem with radioactive contamination is that it is invisible to the naked eye.Sorry, that sounds like a modern myth to me. As for the grazing animals though, that part is true. Pastures as far away as North Wales (UK) were affected.

The glow is the heating coil. Does the dryer make noise like the motor is running? I could be the drum drive belt. If the motor does not run it could be the motor. Did you try to turn the drum by hand? It may be stuck. I would pull it out and unplug it, and remove the back panel to see what is going on. If the dryer is only 1 year old it may still be under warrenty.

Put little glow sticks in them after you blow them up put more than one stick in each balloon!

At sunset or under tungsten lighting? If you are asking about tungsten lighting then set your WB mode to the “Light Bulb” mode or shoot in RAW.

  5. redunicorn Says:

Rabbits with light colored eyes reflect the light and you see red because that is the blood vessels in their eyes. Same thing with Siamese cats.

  6. rhsaunders Says:

Ten milliamperes is a reasonable current, and about three volts will be eaten by the resistor. Hence, 300 ohms.

Well its kind of obvious that the red glow would be similar to The sims 2 “platinum” attitude. Red = emperor of evil

All I can think of is questionable, nasty stains.

I believe the red glow you see is the hot film module which ignites the gas, once the gas ignites and the combustion sensor is satisfied the module shuts off. If you look very closely when it is very dark you will most likely observe a faint blue glow in the same area while it is running steadily – that will be the gas burning.

Hello, It sounds like the ignitor is not pulling the correct amps. to open the safety valve. And you may end up having to replace the safety valve later on. But it is worth fixing if it’s only 4 years old. The ignitor will run you $40 to $60. It is not a hard job to replace it, just 2 wires you will have to cut, and the new ignitor will come with wire nuts. If you do change it your self, just handle it by the Porcelain don’t touch the carbon ignitor portion. The oil from your hands will shorten the life of it. Good Luck

Your question is a very round about way of asking the difference between an Oxygen atom and a Neon atom.An Oxygen atom has 8 protons in the nucleus, Neon has 10. So you must add 2 protons to the nucleus of an Oxygen atom to make it a Neon atom.As seen in Neon lights, when you pass an electric current through Neon gas, it will glow red, this is not so for Oxygen gas. This red glow, however, is not directly due to the number of protons in the nucleus but rather due to the electrons around the nucleus and something called the photoelectric effect. When the electrons around the atom are excited (by an electric current) they will jump up into higher energy levels. When the electrons return to their normal level [ground state] they emmit enegry in the form of a photon. The photon has a very specific wavelength and carries away a specific amount of energy. Depending on the wavelength of the photon, the resulting light will be a certain color. For Neon, the predominamt (but not only) color emmited is red.http://www.amazingrust.com/Experiments/background_knowledge/Spectroscopy.htmlhttp://www.800mainstreet.com/spect/neon_emission.html

  14. pixiequix Says:

There’s a special reflective lens in a cat’s eye called the tapetum lucidum. The tapetum lucidum reflects additional light into another part of the eye called the retina, which allows them to see well in low light conditions.”Why do cats eyes glow red and green?”This depends on whether or not the tapetum lucidum is pigmented. When it is pigmented, the reflection from a bright light will make the cat’s eyes appear to glow green. When it’s not pigmented, the glow will be red.

If your installing red lights of any kind other than brake lights that is illegal and U can get fined Blue is also another color not used. But to your Q there is a diode that mush have gone bad.

  16. ApplianceGuy Says:

The elements do not normally glow bright red. They usually glow a dull orangish color. Check the vent for blockage. It could be kinked or built up with lint or the hood where it goes to the outside could be blocked or the flap could be stuck. There could be blockage in the filter duct preventing proper air flow. If your filter slides in at the right hand side at the top, remove the two screws that hold the duct fast to the top and remove the rear cover and remove the four screws that hold the duct fast to the blower housing. Pull the duct away from the housing and clean the duct out completely from bottom to top.Heating elements do not normally burn out on their own but will go bad when there is not enough air going across them. If there is still some blockage in the system the element will have a short life so it is to your benefit to ensure that there is a good proper air flow. This will also shorten the drying time and save dollars off your electric bill.

I know the answer to this because my husband has sleep apnea, and his fingers are blue, not red, when he’s having breathing problems. You’re looking at the oxygen-rich blood!
