  1. Backwater Charlie Says:

The best Rapala lure that will catch both Walleye and Bass BOTH on a consistent basis is the Shad Rap. X-Raps and Jointed Rapala’s will occasionally catch Walleye but for a lot of Walleye and Bass both the Rapala Shad Rap hands down is the best lure. Here is a link to the Rapala Shad Rap – http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_2851____SearchResultsYou‘re friends are right about the perch pattern. The perch pattern is a great color. Actually i seem to think that almost all of the color patterns by Rapala seem to be top of the line. I would get a Shad Rap in Yellow Perch and one in Bleeding Pearl. Both either in the 2-3/4″ or 3-1/8″ size. Good luck with your new lures!Happy fishing.

Yes.On the weekend, I caught 3 smallmouth bass (biggest was maybe 3lbs), and 12 walleye, all in about 4 hours, including switching lakes. The bass were slow, but it was a cloudy day in a spot I’ve never fished. Walleye were hitting very nicely.I find bass hit best on slow presentations this time of year. Actually, I used the same jig for all those fish, a chartreuse jighead with a white Yum plastic grub. Never even busted out the worms! I fished the bass with it in the afternoon, and the walleye in the evening. Walleye are starting to go deep during the day, but in the evening, the bite can very ferocious in shallow areas, close to weeds,. rocks and dropoffs. My technique of the day was to slowly slowly drag the jig along the bottom. That’s it! And somehow I never got snagged, and caught 15 fish without re tying.. My buddy caught 0 bass with his crankbaits! haha.So in the end, my woman wasn’t mad that I got home so late because I brought 11 tasty friends!!!

Walleye whats that? Bass,& Crappie, you can find down here in Texas& Catfish too

  4. Anonymous Says:

Lakes and rivers (inland) are generally divided into two categories. Cold water and warm water. The distinctions are; Cold Water = water that is generally at or below 58 degrees even in the summer. (IE) trout, walleye, etc. These lakes and rivers are also usually at a higher altitude in the west. Warm water = warmer than 58 degrees with summertime temps going above 88 in some cases. All of the fish you mentioned can function in either cold or warm for periods of time, but is not necessarily their “preferred” comfort level where they are most active. IE; trout and walleye prefer cold and will not survive in warm water for long lengths of time. Bass, bluegill and catfish prefer an ideal temp of around 68-72 degrees.

  5. Josh Says:

There is no “best” bait for any kind of fish throughout the year in any given location. The best bait today may not be the best bait tomorrow. Theres too many factors like temperature, cold fronts/warm fronts, lakes rising and dropping and so on. Generally good all around baits for bass are plastic texas rigged worms, crankbaits, spinnerbaits, rooster tails, and jigs when the bite is a little slow. When all else fails live bait like shinners are almost a sure bet.for the Walleye your best bet is larger shinners and shad although they can be caught pretty decent on baitfish style jerkbaits. swimbaits, and spinnerbaits. Storm makes some great looking swimbaits that imitate sunfish, crappie, minnows, or walley.

ONE bait to catch ALL these species???only one thing will fill that bill.a NIGHTCRAWLER. you can add another dozen or more species to that list. many fish will fall to a well placed ‘crawler.

  7. Maine Boy (formerly NYBoy) Says:

fyi, you go to st lawrence river for pike and not walleye…get yourself some gold and silvber johnson spoons, some live minnows, maybe a red and white daredevil..

  8. Green!! Says:

Big, large lipped crank baits for a lot of wobble, use fat ones that go between 12 and 25 feet (depending on how deep the water is) and use a rather natural color. hope i was of some help =]“`good catchin“`

  9. BOBBER Says:

This time of the year go with a large minnow or crankbait for walleye and saugers

  10. Addicted2Fishing Says:

for Bass try using Berkley plastic worms (black, puple work well) with a twin tail (so it spins for better action. the plastic worm should be 4-8” long pending on the size of fish you want to catch…I personally prefer the scented ones because it is more attractive to the fish. For Walleye they love live bait…try using some type of spinning rig with rather a minnow, chub, or leech at the end of that rig. They also love Rapalas a well perch colored and whatever is native to the waters you are fishing…the Rapalas will catch you both Bass and Walleye so I’d give that a shot first…well best of luck to you and always remember that fishing cover usually holds the biggest fish.

  11. Missy Says:

Best lures to use for bass or walleyes are Kicktails. They’re the BEST and really cool lures. – ma

  12. r Says:

Use flourocarbon leaders in 40#. We use it for mackerel and the teeth on them are fierce. The flourocarbon is invisible to fish.
