great for big cats if using live or cut bate. holds bait well on large live baits such as small brim . good luck and good fishin

This is a pretty tough one because some will swear by the red hook and others, like myself would say it’s all gimmick. If you understand the color spectrum under the water, Red doesn’t really dissapear, it turns gray-black after a few feet. The idea behind the red hook is that it’s supposed to be used for top water applications or within the first 3 feet in the water column. This is true to some degree but water clarity does play a major role here. Crystal clear water and you can see the red in the hook until it hits bottom. Tainted water and it’s just a few feet. This in combination of a lure will make it look like the bait is flaring it’s gills…a sign of distress or feeding, not bleeding. This is supposed to provoke an insticnt in the fish to attack involuntarilly. Yeah…anyways, You can use these hooks with any lure color you can dream up. They are supposed to be better with top water and down to 3 feet or so but like I said, water clarity is the key.

apparently, gamakatsu doesn’t really have a meaning, but it is a manufacturer of fishing hooks in the u.s.!

My opinion is Gamakatsu 3/0 extra wide gap. This has always been my normal hook. When you start getting into jerk baits like flukes and others similiar, I usually move to a 4/0, same brand and gap.

I hope you know there are 2 inch senkos out there. They are not that easy to find now but they are still available. Their size will be a a lot more “trout friendly”.PS: A 2 inch senko is not the same as a shortened 3 inch senko. 3 inch senkos are a lot fatter.Added:You can find 2″ senkos on Gary Yamamoto’s site.https://store.baits.com/home.php?cat=13

The Yum Buzz Frog will work fine with a 4/0 or 5/0, which one that is comfortable for you, is comfortable for the fish. When it’s totally weedless and the bass bites, the hook will puncture back into the plastic and into the bass’ mouth. Sounds kind of weird, but it’s true. Nahh … The only stupid question’s in the fishing sections are one’s containing to the best bass lure, or asking if the banjo minnow is any good … No problem.Hope i helped ya out.

Where are you going to fish first?Basically, hook size is very important. I have used most of the brands you had mentioned. I guess it really depends on where you are fishing at.Look at what the regulars/boatman are using there. Usually what they use is what works.I prefer sabikis with feathers and the fake fish skin on, lumo beads too.But my all time favourite is still mustad, those with the plastic squid thingys on. Works at most places for me.

Hi Mattgreat question, the thing about useing plastics, is that you realy need more than one type in your tackle box. There are many types and depending on location you may need to look at size and weight’s that your useing before you find the right balance.
