Rapala Shad is great. I don’t know what else to say. I was amazed at the quality of Rapala Shad and highly recommend that you take a look and see for yourself.
What are the last 5 lures you purchased?
The last 5 lures i purchased, i believe are ...1.) Rebel Pop-R. in a Shad pattern.2.) Rooster Tail in Green coachdog.3.) Rat-L-Trap imatation (Made by Cotton Cordell, i forgot the name of it.)4.) Rapala Original Rapala Shad Floating Minnow in Silver.5.) Renegade 4" curly tail worms in motor oil.So, what's yours? Those cotton cordell spots are exactly what i were talking about ... I bought a couple in a color that resembled firetiger, or perch.Bassplayer, those Lucky Crafts are nice lures, a bit on the pricey side. Fisher King, up there in Minnesota must be a lot different than Florida, i live in Kentucky and there giving snow showers tonight with a highs in the 20's-30's tomorrow, I wish spring would hurry up and come on.

Bass: Myself I am a big fan of the pig n jig, swimbaits. and I love scumfrogs. For right now though I would stick with the jigs, maybe some finesse worms.Brim: I think you got it there. Carp: you can go to your local bread store, mine on tuesdays and you can get a trashbag of bread thats past its expiration for $2.00.

We were fishing off a boat launch dock before trying for northern pike with a basic red and white dare devil spoon.6 Walleye from the spoon! Live bait seems to outdo it all – jig with a live minnow is even better fishing off the bottom and bouncing it.I like the smaller ones myself – if you need more weight adding a sliding sinker up your line works. For Bass – Hoola Hoppers? Is that how ya spell it? The lures that float and look like frogs? My boy had two bass hit is bobber –
two days ago.I’m thinking of adding one onto his line for his bobber! James catching a bluegillhttp://james-fishing.blogspot.com/

Cast the spinnerbait out, retrieve it. You can vary your cranking speeds, work it fast, or work it slow. You can even let it fall. With the Husky Jerk, cast it out, jerk-pause-jerk-pause-repeat. It’ll work a lot better if it’s a suspending model.

They are discontinued but you can still find them here:http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=rapala+spoon&category0=Also might want to try these baits on top. Rat, weightless Strike King 3X Lizard (floats), Yum buzzfrog, Zoom horny toad. My pond has the same growth problem and a nice scummy froth on top. The weightless lizard has been working well though.Edit:If you are an old fart that’s been into fishing ever since your grand daddy let you take a peek into his tackle box where you probably saw one of these spoons…(and yes they still produce nice catches over weedbeds, in hydrilla, or on the surface with a plastic trailer…get you some) then you know already they work well. Stamina Quality Components has a generic version available.http://www.queencitytackle.com/rexspoon.htmhttp://www.staminainc.com/spoon_blanks/Rex_Spoon.htmlAnother classic besides the Johnson Silver Minnow is the Strike King Timber King spoon. They must be out of production as well cause I can’t find them (not even on Ebay). Maybe you can locate a Mepps dealer that has some Timber Doodles (great name huh?) as those also work well in the situation you described.http://www.mepps.com/products/info/index.php?pffk=info_timberdoodle_166&tab=fishspeciesJust like Jimmy Houston’s theme song….Caught me a big one then I let it goooooooooo.:-)
