In this review of Muskie Pike, I’m going to show you both the good and the bad. After all, what’s a review without some honesty, right? First, I have to tell you upfront that Muskie Pike is my favorite choice. Sure, there’s other products in the same class, but frankly, none of them as good (in terms of quality). I do have to say this though. some other products may be better, but based on quality and price, Muskie Pike is the clear winner.

Your ugly stick will work fine. Just fish with what ya got. I’m in Texas where the catfish are huge so I use a medium or sometimes heavy action rod. However, I was born and raised in northern Michigan where there are plenty of large muskie and pike.You might want to get a stainless steel leader. The pike have sharp teeth that line the entire top of their mouths. Regular line is too weak. I used to catch huge muskie and pike on a $3 Zebco rod & reel in the 1960′s. Anything that gets the job done. Right?.

I went to a lake which I believe is called Beaver Lake in Minnesota a couple years in a row and had no trouble catching monster bass and a few good size pike. The locals all said there was good muskie fishing there, but we didn’t bother because we were doing so well without them. It’s a small lake that you have to go through a pretty narrow “channel” to get to from a much bigger lake (which also has pretty good pike fishing)A nearby lake we went to (Black Lake) was a haven for perch and panfish. We just stayed at a state park near the lake and launched our boat every day.We also had good luck in Gull Lake and Grass Lake.

Fish the tippy river up around Rochester area I have taken pike up to 19 lbs.The best fishing will be in the spring april and may and slows down in the summer.If summer fishing fish the holes!Fish deep creek area,germany bridge delong area and fish green crawlers,live shiners or sucker minnows.

swim baits are soft (worm like) paddle tail baits usually hooked up with leadheads. Jerk baits are hard plastic or wood baits (just like crank baits) but have no lip off the front which makes them dive down during a retrieve. some have spinners on them or hollowed out front ends they are also called stick baits, cigar baits, pencil poppers, poppers and spooks (for the zara spook) they almost all are top water baits that float and with varied retrieves the action changes.

you got a nice selection there for bass and a couple lures for pike.things for bass i would add to your collection are…senkos (any color works great)yum buzzfrogs (watermelons, pumpkin colors)spinnerbaits (orange/green, junebug, black, chartruese, red)for pike i would add…wild eye baby pike6-8 inch jointed rapala (firetiger, perch, pike colors work great)

Troll buddy, if you have a nice motor then go for it. Think about it, when trolling you cover more ground and you follow a simple fishing rule “you can’t catch fish if your lure isn’t in the water.” Trolling lets you keep that lure down and the more you do that the more fish you can target.

Oh Man, I’m from texas and fished all over america. Get a guide and a fly rod, when you get to NZ and get you some of those once in a lifetime rainbows and browns on a dry fly. Gives me chills thinking about it. I will go with you if you pay for half my airfare. YOu could not pay me to go back to Australia, but I would pay double to go to New Zealand. There is also some great salt water off shore fishing aroung the islands.

I don’t ever recall a northern pike being taken from the Delaware river. If it’s musky you seek, travel a little further and fish the Susquehannafrom the Falls Bridge upstream to Tunkhannock – a local hotspot is where Tunkhannock creek empties in to the Susquehanna.Try big Rapalas. jerkbaits, large Mepps spinners. Look for an eddy or backwater and fish it hard.

1st. Check some of my “starred question’s”. There has been many discussion’s on night-fishing recently.2nd. What type of lures or bait are you using? 3rd. At first “dark”,(when it finally get’s completely “dark”), fish usually need 1-2 hours to change over into “night-hunting” mode. In “jet-black” darkness they rely heavily on there sense of smell and “lateral line”,(kinda like our “ear’s). It takes them a while to adjust to “the night”. IMHO, go fishing right before “dark”. After it get’s “jet black”, leave and come back later, (1-2 hours). OR start your nightfishing around 11:30-12 and fish til 6 am. Your “peak” hours will be 3:30 and 5:30 am. Best lures for night-fishing Bass, Northern’s,Crappie: #1 Spinnerbait’s in 1/8-1/4 sizes. Gold (darker colored) Colorado/indiana blades and “darker” skirt’s & trailer’s. “Slow-rolling”.#2 Swimming/Ribbon-tailed worms in darker color’s. “Slow swimming”.#3 Floating Rapala’s in darker color’s. “Slow swimming”. It’s important to note that repeated cast’s to the same structure/area helps. And a “slow, constant” retrieve helps too!Hope this info helps ya? Go see my “Starred Q” for further info! Good luck!

alot of game fish are illegal to keep in a aquarium but i believe i just saw a baby pike at my lfs yesterday the easiest way to get something like that would be to catch it yourself but you run the risk of getting caught with a under sized fish

If your not using a down rigger, then you may not have any luck catching any trout. In the lake I fish, the trout are already sitting around 40-60′ depth mark and with out a down rigger it would be a bit of a challenge to get down there.

a cradle type net is probably the safest for the fish. it doesn’t allow it to thrash about injuring itself or someone else with the hooks.they are used by many guides and trophy anglers.also, there is the possibility of injuring a heavy fish when lifting it by the gill cover. don’t support it’s entire weight that way.http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/cradle-net/940203.aspx

I live in an area where Muskies are quite popular to fish, and I have never heard of anyone using any of those things that you listed. It is inhumane, and I’ll bet if someone gets caught doing it, it will be a trip to court and a hefty fine for animal cruelty.They do make lures that resemble mice and rats, I know that. We have some antique Muskie lures that look like small rats. So even 80 years ago, people used lures that *looked* like live animals, but not the actual animal itself.I shudder at the thought.
