Good question! I prefer the shiney chrome ones if I am fishing for Stripers. Bluefish, get a floater with light bottom and darker top – some are green, some blue. I don’t care for the orange ones. But bluefish go after anything you thow in the school. Be sure you have long strong steel leaders (black). So they don’t go after your line! I lost more blues that way.

If I could have only one lure for both Smallies and Wallies it would be a number 8 Rapala Shad rap in shad color. Take several and you will not be disappointed. They run deep enough to troll behind a canoe, and dive well on just casting.

    Jigs, hands down.

Topwater lures have some good results. Diving crank plugs also work well. Topwater lures and rubber baits work best in shallow water in morning and evening, while divers and spinners work best in afternoon. So, you may have the right stuff, but bad presentation and time of use can prevent you from getting results. Also, old rubber worms smell artificial and unappealing, so make sure your rubber baits have scent on them. So my favorite is whatever works that day, but I really like topwater lures and rubber baits, so my best fishing is in the morning.Sorry, no pics, but anyone in the store should know what you are talking about. I would recommend actually shopping in a sporting goods store, because their employees should know what they are talking about (Beware, they have proven this theory incorrect before).Good luck!

Guys, I think the point of the question is not whether such a lure exists, nor does the question concern gimmicks like the Banjo Minnow and other tackle that is designed more to attract novice anglers than actual aquatic lifeforms. The essence of the question is: GIVEN that a 100 percent effective lure exists (forget about the nature of it and the impossibility of it) would you buy one? In other words, would you pay money to remove the guesswork, patience, tactics, and mystery from fishing?Actually, I guess the question assumes that you WOULD pay something for it, that you would want one, and the question is how MUCH would you pay. I suppose most “real” anglers would claim that they would not want one, would not want to remove that question mark from each day’s fishing. And I would count myself, too — I don’t want to take away the learning aspect of fishing, the patience, the mystique. But it’s easy to say that, because it doesn’t exist and I’ll never have to face the question in reality.EDIT.All right, what about this? What if the lure was proven (no gimmick, no wild claims) to increase your catch by, say, 20 percent? The lure itself (no technique involved) caught 20 percent more fish, all other things equal. In other words, what if it erased 20 percent of the mystery? What would you pay NOW?B — Yeah, again, I think most real anglers are with you, but don’t forget, the guys fishing on your left and on your right WOULD buy the 100-percenter, and they would catch more fish than you (of course, this starts to touch on the sheer impossibility of the premise — such a lure would irreversibly change the face of sport fishing, assuming that it would be legal at all).Chimp — I think novice anglers would shell out ten times that amount for a lure that always caught fish. $200 for a lure that catches fish every time you use it — guys would not be able to get their wallets out fast enough.

its at the top of the river where you can take the boat ride down. i think you should be able to get there by now.

hey man, you might want to try a chartruse color, i would try a double bladed spinner with a good trailer. what i like to use is a stained pond is a 3 to 4 inch broke back minnow. use on that is silver or some kind of flashy color. you can also use a sliver rattle trap lipless crank bait. just for the fact that the water is stained keep the lures flashy. good luck good fishin be safe and remember to share the experince

  8. Mynor D Says:

The banjo minnow works very great i own a set myself another great lure is crankbaits there are many kinds just figure out if you want to fish top water or deep.

There is a small wood lathe that you can buy fairly cheaply and turn out your own lures. If it is a good fish catcher, you will be able to charge 3 times as much or more due to the fact that they are hand made. I have friend that created a lure ( a floating diver) with one single hook on top of the lure.He could work it on top, pull it over grass, logs, etc., and it was almost impossible to hang it up. even when used as a diving bait.He caught fish with it like crazy.

  10. yuengling100 Says:

Anything small usually works best. I like to use small tube jigs (1 inch)on a micro jig head (1/32 or 1/16 of an ounce), or and other small plastic lure will work. If the bluegills have some size to them then a small rooster tail would work fine, but smaller spinners with very little weight might help you get some more bites. Another one of my favorites for pan fish is small balsa wood poppers. Cast them out and give them a little wiggle and anything below will usually come up to smack it. Also might be the color of the lure. Try a different color spinner and see if that works.

  11. devyn Says:

vibrates the water a bit, makes it seem like a fish in peril. More movement. You will only want to use it when you see a lot of top water action though, if the water is still, good luck.

  12. Frankie Says:

Another fisherman! Seriously, on the real Kenai River it’s shoulder to shoulder fishermen at some of the better spots. Sometimes they’re even fishing while standing behind each other. It’s called combat fishing. Lots of fun to watch.
