Baas Fishing on soft plastics..wow there are so many great techniques out there.First try top water scum frogs, fish them very slow in heavy cover and over lily pads.Second try plastic lizards fished weedless or weighted, fish over heavy cover or off the bottom use back or purple colors.Third use plastic worms over heavy cover and weighted, try them over lily pads and off the bottom, best colors black or purple.Forth try tube baits weighted or put them on a jig and fish them slow, try many colors and use sharp hooks for better hook sets.Fifth try big twister tail on a jig, hot colors work great, twister tails you can buy in single or double, black or white, yellow and purple works great.Have Fun Fishing.

I agree with the top answer.Denver lakes and ponds usually have trout, pike, and suckers. Down in Southern Colorado where I live we have them all and bass is included. Pueblo Reservoir, Vaco Ponds, Ruynon Pond, Trinidad Lake, and that lake the top answer mentioned which is located in La Junta. The southern part of the Arkanasas River also provided Bass fishing.

It’s a link. Not only to the survival skills of our ancestors, but to family and friends. I can’t fish without thinking of my grandfather and how much it “looks like it’s going to rain” even if it doesn’t… now that I have his old tacklebox and some of his tackle, even more so. My first memorable experience with a wild alligator, fishing with my father and nearly stepping on about a five footer that must have been asleep when I walked down to the water. Coming home from my first deep-sea trip having caught the biggest fish of the trip and I forget how many mahi. My first catch ever… nasty ol’ indian river saltwater yucko catfish…This all just goes on and on, every year more memories, and always a connection to Divinity and nature and a reminder (even on the days that nothing tasty gets caught) that even though food is convienient, the best food still comes from good ol’ momma nature, and there’s nothing like realizing “somethings going on here…” when your bait bucket for the first time ever kinda turns your stomach, which leads into another fishing trip, but that’s a story for another question… hehe

If your looking to go on a trip, you have many options available. There are good spots everywhere in the country, but mostly the southern states(i.e. Florida, Texas, California). Mostly it depends on where you live and I am sure you can find a lake around where you live. If you want to go to California, then I recommend one of five lakes. Castaic, Casitas, Cachuma, Perris, or Diamond Valley. I have been to all of these lakes and rental boats are available at every one (except I don’t know about Perris). But, if visiting one of these lakes then you should definitely go in mid to late spring,as you will get the best bites. Here, also you can check out some of these sites.http://www.dvlake.com/http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=651http://www.castaiclake.com/http://www.sbparks.org/DOCS/Cachuma.htmlhttp://www.lakecasitas.info/index.htmlAlso, many of these area offer other activities! But if you want to go somewhere for the views and want to enjoy nature a little more, I recommend either Cachuma or Casitas. Enjoy. Trust me pick a good spot and you’re garaunteed to catch a fish

I fish alot of BASS and FLW tournaments every year. Fish care is our main priority. We don’t want the fish getting injured any more than they have to. They are kept in airated live wells through the day and then released back into the lake after they are weighed in and are only out of the water for seconds at a time. Very few fish die and we are penalized by a lowered overall weight for each fish that dies, which insures that we make every possible effort to keep them alive and well.

Are you fishing during the middle of the day? If so, yes, it can be very tough at times. Remember, Bass move to deeper water in hot weather. Your bait selections are actually pretty ideal for this time of year. How are you fishing the plastic worms? To be productive this time of year (during the day especially), they need to be Texas or Carolina Rigged. I’d suggest the Texas Rig, just because it is a very simple setup. A quick Google search will show you this simple setup. Cast them into cover, and fish them slow. I personally find cover, and cast in and around it thoroughly. Let the worm fall to the bottom, then raise your rod from a 9 o clock position to about an 11 o clock position, then reel up the slack and repeat. The Rattle Trap is another great choice, although during the day, you need to fish them fairly slow. Again, cast it out, and let it sink down towards the bottom. Use a slow to moderate retrieve so it stays fairly deep. I have even somewhat jigged Rattle Traps up and down off of the bottom. If you’re fishing during the heat of the day, this can be very productive.Another bait you should consider in warm weather would be a jig and craw combo. You fish them similar to how you would a Texas Rigged plastic worm. Rather than making one upward motion, like you would do with the Texas Rig, I like to twitch the rod while making that upward motion. A jig is made to imitate a Crawfish, so the twitching looks more natural than simply raising the rod up in one steady motion.Lastly, the top waters. Don’t fish these during the heat of the day, unless you see a lot of fish on the surface. The only time to consider that in my opinion is when you get an overcast or rainy day. Any other time, fish them early in the morning and in the evening hours. Bass do come up during these times to feed, so it’s a great choice in that situation.

  8. Ole Fisherman Says:

Do you plan to use all the different varieties of lures Bass fishermen have at their disposal? A Spinning rod/reel is mostly designed specifically for “light tackle” Bass fishing using lighter lures and lines. Baitcaster’s are important to Bass fishing because:A. Baitcaster’s can be easily spooled with heavier & larger diameter lines- Why is this important? Larger diameter lines (in the 14lb to 17lb size) help heavy lures sink slower due to “diameter drag”. This is VERY important when fishing with Spinnerbaits, larger Crankbaits & Jigs, Etc. Mono lines have a “high floating characteristic” that also slows the sink rate of larger Bass lures…..Heavier lines are stronger, more abrasion resistant, and can generally take a lot of abuse. B. Baitcasters tend to be more accurate- After practicing with your baitcaster you will notice a vast improvement in accuracy between your spinning outfit and your baitcasting outfit. Obviously, putting the lure exactly WHERE you want it is very important in fishing…….C. Baitcasting rods tend to come in more “Bass specific” actions- Although you CAN use Spinning outfit’s for a majority of B-fishing, by using a baitcasting outfit you can more “refine” your fishing techniques. (Analogy- Why use a car for off-roading when you could use a jeep or a 4 wheel drive?) Bottomline?? If you plan to take Bass fishing seriously you NEED to be able to use a baitcasting outfit. http://www.bassresource.com is a great website with tons of info on Bass fishing. Peruse the site and read as much as you can. Here’s an interesting article- http://www.bassresource.com/beginner/bass_basics.html-http://www.bassresource.com/beginner/selecting_rods_reels.htmlHope this helps ya?

It depends on the sizes of fish you are going for. If you are only using one type for both fish, I would use Stren 20 lb. Monofilament Superior Knot. It’s not that expensive and is pretty reliable. Hope my opinion helps. Good luck!
