Overall, the Baby Griffon was great, and I have no problem recommending Baby Griffon for anyone wanting one. LOVE THIS Baby Griffon

I’m a fan of training. It teaches you to bond with your dogIt can teach your dog socialization if you do a “class” with other dogs and people. It helps reduce the stress on you when it comes to dealing with failed attempts and continuing on.It teaches you all the basics. Potty training, basic commands, socializing, bonding, tricks.Sometimes if you do a private class they’ll want the person he’s less bonded to, to be the one to take him. Sometimes they’ll ask for the whole family including other pets.In General- at petsmart (where I am they have an AMAZING trainer)its 119 for 8 weeks of training classes (Puppy, intermediate and advanced)99 for a week of private classes15 for potty trainingbest of luck!–edit–in response to a spray bottle- an experienced trainer won’t use this technique. Positive reinforcement works better than physical punishment.Positive / Negative reinforcement is also used for chewing on things- but that entails “No…this is my toy! Is this your toy? Is this yours? Get it get it… GOOD BOY!” (Take away what’s yours and give him his toy then praise him.) it never entails nose slapping, yelling, or spraying.when it comes to spray bottles- it is a short term technique that eventually becomes ineffective as they can look at it as a game or another toy. Most trainers I’ve spoke to no longer use or recommend this technique. And please don’t hit your dog on the nose or grab his muzzle. This breaks the bonding process because they don’t understand why they’re being hit. And for them it hurts a lot. A slap on the nose is like a kick in the groin for a man. In aggressive dogs, this can cause more aggression or fear biting.Positive reinforcement has been proven to work better.

While there are a few different seat belt options, and many with similar structure, I know of only one that was actually crash tested and proven to work at a common maximum speed. I put a link to where you can read up on it more in the source area below. I noticed one poster suggested that it’s “better” to NOT use a seat belt because then in case of an accident the dog “wouldn’t be able to escape”. I hate to be rude, but that is plain ignorant. In my line of canine work, I can not tell you how many dogs were killed, paralyzed and/or severely injured because they were not wearing a seat belt at the time of an accident. The dogs, just like humans, get thrown around the car – into and OUT OF windshield and windows, etc. While the seat belt I spoke of above is the crash tested and the “safest” option, it’s not the most comfortable for the dog. There are car seats for dogs dogs of all sizes. For dogs under 30 lbs there are some really cushy seats on the market. While the purpose of the seats is to keep your dog at window height to both reduce motion sickness and make the ride more enjoyable and comfortable for the dog, you could remove the pillow cushion from some of the plushest on the market and it creates a nice soft wall of protection around your beloved. The seat belts that come with these aren’t as reliable, but are better than nothing. They attach behind the back strap of the harness and hook to the D-ring on your dog’s harness. There is also a sturdy option that offers more leeway than the first I mentioned and that is made by Bamboo. I wrote two posts pertaining to your question at my Doggie Tip Blog. I also included those links in the source section below if you wish for more details on your options. Good for you for wanting to protect, and spoil, the little one!

Everyone has learned something the hard way. However, your story and experience can help others to not make the same mistake and help save more lives.Who knows if someone else bought him, if they would have done what you did. Your puppy is adorable and very fortunate to have someone like you.

Wow… that’s quite the canine family you have there! I love reading about other peoples’ dogs… and sharing my own!Nick- 4 year old Gordon Setter (My avitar dog) and the love of my life. He has 9 points torard his AKC championship and 2 qualifying legs toward his Junior Hunter title. He is a silly, sweet, goofy boy that loves to give hugs and he is singly devoted to me.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/PapSett/My%20Babies/121212-R1-008-2A_3_008.jpgKharma- 5 year old female Gordon Setter, spayed. Kharma has completed her Junior Hunter title and we are working on obedience. She is more active than Nick, and SUPER intelligent. She loves learning silly tricks and making people laugh.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/PapSett/My%20Babies/LabelSheet1.pngCricket- 7 year old spayed tri-color Papillon. Cricket’s nickname has been Butterbean since I got her; even as a puppy, she looked like a baseball with legs! Sheis a very smart little dog, but she is a Diva. She doesn’t see the reason to have 3 other dogs in the house… after all, I have HER… isn’t that enough??http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/PapSett/My%20Babies/TheKids198.jpgBunny-the baby of the family. She is a 4 and a hald month old sable Papillon. Super, super intelligent, Bunny is the happiest little dog I have ever known! She keeps a smile in my face all the time.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/PapSett/My%20Babies/R1-17.jpg

both of my papillons wear shirts and sweaters in the winter time. they just dont have that much body fat and they get cold easily. in fact, my boy has a shirt on right now to keep him from scratching because of his allergies.

It wouldn’t hurt to talk to someone at the police station. There are also various kinds of muzzles. Maybe a basket muzzle wouldn’t be as restrictive to his breathing. Go into the pet supply store and chat with them about the various types. Bring your dog and try a few one, to see which one is the least impeding.

Sporting Group: English Setter. In reality I would probably never own one, because their grooming and exercise requirements really don’t mesh with what I usually look for in a dog, but they are just so BEAUTIFUL. And smart, and good natured, and goofy..http://highlandsetters.com/topaz.jpgWorking group: Newfoundland. They are so sweet and like big black teddy bears. But again, I’d probably never own one because of how much grooming they need, and how much they drool, and how short of a lifespan they have (I consider 10 and under a short lifespan)See how gentle they are? http://cache4.asset-cache.net/xc/73032688.jpg?v=1&c=IWSAsset&k=2&d=B3B7071D257FC039A5B9F1D1FE84AC5B461E830E1ED5326E8AE837AE08FEB379Non-sporting: French Bulldog. Probably the only smooshy faced dog that I actually like! They are so funny and fun, and just love their people! And although they wheeze and snore, they don’t seem to do it as much as some other brachycephalic breeds. Would I ever own one? Maybe…but some of their health problems scare me a bit. Here’s just how goofy they are: http://upsidedowndogs.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/frankie-the-french-bulldog-375×500.jpgHound: Whippet!!!!! They are probably THE perfect breed for me. Practically no grooming, active in short bursts and then really laid back, they love their people but do have some Independence, they are ADORABLE, so beautiful and graceful looking, they can be really goofy sometimes, and they are probably the most trainable sigthounds. Here’s one reason why I love them so much: http://www.americanwhippetclub.net/images/DSCN0327.JPGHerding: Swedish Vallhund. They kinda have a similar personality to the German Shepherd (and kinda look like one, sorta) but in a smaller, slightly calmer package. I grew up around German Shepherds and absolutely love them, but they are just too much dog for me lol. I think I’d get a Vallhund if I ever got into dog sports, like this Vallhund is: http://www.justusdogs.com.au/upload/flex_img/07062008095326_01.jpgTerrier: Bedlington Terrier: They have a slightly sighthound type look to them (which I love sighthounds) and their personalities are just awesome. I’ve met two of them and they were just so sweet and feisty at the same time! But would I want to keep up with that grooming…heck no!The Bedlington Terriers I saw weren’t cut in the show droom though, they wre cut more like this: http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/images11/BedlingtonTerrierLiver%20Puppy1.jpgToy: Iggies!!!! (aka Italian Greyhounds for all you non Iggy folk lol) I absolutely MELT every time I see one. They are just THE cutest things on the planet. So goofy (especially with their extra long limbs which can make them so graceful and yet so clumsy lol). They love their people but are still somewhat independent, and everything about them just fits me so well.Soooo cute: http://www.photographycraft.com/images/italian-greyhound.jpg
