As previously stated, it is an incorrect abbreviation for Reproduction, meaning it is from a new product run and NOT a vintage item.

Your questions and these answers are cracking me up.I would be lured back to your pad with some Mogen David. Of course, you could also lure me back to your pad with half a bottle of Snapple and a bag of pretzels.

I would do like the CSIs and tape and keep that thumbprint safely tucked away somewhere then paint the walls and look forward. Easier said than done, I know. My heart aches with this and for you.x.

It appears to be a “Musky Mud Puppy”, built by the Consance Charles Roberts Bait Co. in Monsinee, Wisc. circa. 1928. I’m looking at it in the “Fishing Lures Collectibles Book” second edition, page 242. Other than the paint job your lure is identical to the one shown, including the length of 7″

for starters, do not use anything stronger than mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush for scrubbing. if any are painted wood, l would not touch them with even that for fear of removing any paint. plastic lures should be okay. l pulled a crankbait from the lake that was covered in growth and after a mild scrubbing, the finish looks almost new.but painted plugs can get hairline cracks in the paint over the years and water may penetrate and lift paint chips which will lessen any value.make a shadow box for display in their present condition.

I may be wrong, but I’m perty sure that’s a FIRST generation “Top Prop” by Mister Twister. When I say “first generation” I mean late 70′s – early 80′s. They don’t make them like that anymore. Mister Twister has “revised” the original structure of the lure into an “Inline model” and it now looks like this- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_15430____SearchResults You may be able to find one hanging on a wall in an old Bait & Tackle shop. (Try the Tackle Box in Gainsville Fl. They may have one- http://local.yahoo.com/info-14055763-tackle-box-gainesville) At least now you have a name to call the lure when you call around to find it! (lol)(When you call, tell the Bait-shop owners you don’t want the Inline model you want the Buzzbait model……)Hope this helps ya G. PS- Merry X-mas.

flea markets and yard sales. anywhere else is going to want to charge top dollar and many of these are worth up into the hundreds of dollars. there is considerable competition among lure collectors.

  9. fastrmastrblastr Says:

Well now, you want to sell vintage lures for a top dollar, and you are willing to destroy the evidence that makes them worth a collector’s time and effort to id them as vintage? Would you also want to redo Mona Lisa’s smile? How often do you go around shooting yourself in the foot? Leave them as they are. Do not attempt to clean them, or replace anything on them, or try to repaint them, as they shall be worth more to the true collector if they are just properly taken care of in their original package, as the packaging is also valuable in combination with the item. I take it that you have never seen an episode of “The Antique’s Road Show” on PBS. This applies to ALL items of antiquity! If they are without packaging, buy a case to show them in, Use some type of an “E” glass to protect them from sun damage. Speak with professionals at a glass shop. Contact the National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame, (I believe it is located in Hayward, Wisconsin, if I am not mistaken.)Good luck & Good fishing

It is made by Mirro Lure. Not sure of when it was made. The new ones look like this:http://www.mirrolure.com/seriesIII/s7mr.htmlhttp://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SceneSevenDisplay?catalogId=10001&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=-44742&scene7Path=BassPro%2f77453a%3flayer%3dcomp%26wid%3d500%26hei%3d500%26fmt%3djpeg%26qlt%3d100%2c0%26op_sharpen%3d0%26resMode%3dnorm%26op_usm%3d1.0%2c1.0%2c0.0%2c0&sourceName=images2%2f77000%2f77453a.jpg&type=0&linkEnabled=falsehttp://www.landbigfish.com/tacklestore/showcase.cfm?PID=1980older style:http://cgi.ebay.com/5-MIRRO-LURES-PLASTIC-FISHING-LURES-TWO-52MII-52M28_W0QQitemZ380010929136QQihZ025QQcategoryZ794QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

  12. pheasant tail Says:

If they throw in a Penn reel and an Ugly Stik, I’d say you’ve got yourself a bargain.Overboard…yes. Can they get away with it ? Yes, as long as people are willing to buy. Most lures are designed to catch fishermen. All your tried and true still catch fish in their original colors schemes – Rapala, Jitterbug, Zara Spoook, you get the idea. But hey….if you want to spend big bucks on a hand painted lure that is your right to do so. “A fool and his money soon part ways”.

  13. Peter_AZ Says:

Actually, I think the only reason for special “lure paint” is so they can charge more for it.Model paint (lacquer) works fine, as does nail polish (a faster-drying version of the same). I’ve used both and fish have bit the lures just fine. Your car paint would probably work just fine — in fact, it’s probably more durable than model paint or nail polish. As long as the paint is fully dry, the fish won’t smell it at all.

  14. mcbidjcd Says:

I can only tell you that they go for about 100 dollars but there value is in the fact that on the end of a fishing pool you will get a fish
