Buying Walleye Pike was one of the best investments I ever made. I highly endorse it.
I am going fishing trip to Canada on Lake Nippising and i would like to get some tips or advice?
Where are good fishing spots? What bait or lures should i use? In lake nippissing primarily there is walleye, pike,and musky. I mostly use Rapalas would they be the best lures to use there???

It’s excellent, but it’s best to use 7+ pounders because you have to get all the bones out.

Personally, it’s the trophy walleye. I rarely go for pike and when I do catch them it’s usually on accident. There have been many trophy pike that have broken records but rarely is a walleye caught that large enough to be the biggest ever. I don’t know I guess it’s just my opinion. There’s nothing better than catching a 10+ pound walleye on 6-8 pound test and fighting it til’ the end. Good luck fishin’!

Use the money you planned to spend on the St. Croix and get yourself 3 or 4 different rods.

is there an ubundance of fish like carp or other trash fish? pike and tigers are good at cleaning out any unwanted fish

“Bleeding Baits” CAN make a difference; but not in the way, you might think. It is not he ‘bleeding” part that will attract a predaditory fish nor will it encourage them to bite you bait. Rather it is the contrast, caused by the ‘bleeding’ they see. In some conditions, this contrast WILL make a very big difference. As stated earlier, RED is the first color to disappear in water due to the color spectrum wavelength. (somewhere between 5 to 15 ft depending on water clarity). This does not mean that it becomes invisible, just that the color ‘red’ is not seen. It has yet to be proven what ‘shade-of-gray’ fish see in replacement of ‘red’. This same philosophy holds true for all the other colors too. Pretty lures will always catch more angler than fish! Learn the basics and stick to them. You will catch more.. The “pros” have sponsors, so they have to do a sales job on lures… otherwise they just have no paycheck. – Go Fish!

I use needle nose pliers to remove the hooks. Pike love the taste of my blood. The picture you provided doesn’t really help because you provided nothing to compare it against. But if your using 12 lb test on a rod and reel designed for it you should be good.And Northerns are good for eating.

Lures such as rapalas and daredevils do not need any weights added to them. After you cast these lures you simply real them back in and do not let them sink to the bottom. Just real them in at an easy pace not too fast, but not too slow too ha ha. You might need leaders if you are planning on catching a lot of pike because they could easily cut through the line. I usually do not use leaders because I feel they scare the fish and usually the pike never bite my line. Do not add bait to the daredevil of the rapalas or the other lures they work better plain. If you add Weight it could screw up the action of the lure. Now with the walleye rig you should use a Weight that is heavy enough to keep the bait in one place even with the current. You can fish with the walleye rigs two ways: one you cast it and let it sit on the bottom until you get a bite and the other way is to slowly real it in, but you may get snagged doing this. I guess the most important Q is- Are you on a budget? In my honest opinion, you need to spend (at least) $120 on a decent fishing outfit. (You could spend less but the quality goes out the window!) And that $100-$120 mark is relatively cheap compared to most GOOD combo prices! Anyway, here are some suggestions:Reels1. i have a different wieght and brand on every pole i have a 10-12lb. line for walleye stern. for pike i use a 18in steel leader and 15lb. spirderwire. and for bass a 8-10lb. eagle claw.hope you start you use what i use and then, you will catch the big one.
