Fishing the Hudson…best left to the pro’s who fish and fight for that water. Check the link below for HRFA ( Hudson River Fishermans Association.) THey represent all those who fish the Hudson.www.hrfanj.orgBy the way, yes you can fish. Just because the season opens at a certain date doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t catch them before. Fish don’t have calenders. Keeping them may be another question all itself.

You definitely need a fishing license to fish at Whittier Narrows aka Legg Lakes. In California, a fishing license is not needed on public piers that extend into the ocean.

DOWN size and slow down.Switch to lighter line, back off the bank and try the first drop off, creek junctions, humps.I would try a shakey head, or any other kind of finesse bait, drop shot, etc. Wacky rigged worm you would have to weight to get it down deep.Small ( 6″ or less) lightly weighted texas rigged worm with a light wire hook.3/8 oz jig or less might be worth a try as well. By next weekend the weather might have gotten better and straightened up some.Weather is been awful this year with the temp drops.Good LuckOh try where a rock wall that starts to flatten out and meets a point. Places with deep water close to the bank.Added* Do not be afraid to Carolina rig a finesse worm. I have had good success in your situation doing that.I used to be Golden Feather, my 360 got SOOOoo screwed up and had to delete GF and make a new ID tr19xdc; now my id is my boat.

Go to the docks when they’re not busy (not at 5 am when they’re preparing to head out) and get a hold of the captains. You’ll start bu swabing decks. You’ll have a good chance if you are young, passionate about the sport, strong, have experience, few ties to dry land and like to get stinky. It’s fabulous. Good luck!

I go here (jann’s netcraft) and I have even talked live to specialists about getting the topical coatings on homemade baits just right.
