I cannot tell you how happy I am with my Lures Tackle. Man, this thing is getting better and better as I learn more about it.
Can I use bass lures on catfish?
I'VE NEVER BEEN CATFISH FISHING, I HAVE Lures Tackle NOTHING BUT BASS LURES AND TACKLE. BESIDES THE LEADERS IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I CAN USE? DO SPINNERS OR BUZZ BAITS OR ANYTHING WORK ON CATFISH?

4″, 6″, and 7.5″ plastic worms in the colors albino shad, black, purple, grape, and motor oil. Buy assorted 1/0, 2/0, and 3/0 EWG worm hooks. Also some 1/8 oz. bullet weights are needed.Buy you a few bass jigs. Black w/ blue and PB & J are my favorites. These are slow-type baits that mimic a crayfish. 1/4 and 1/2 oz. sizes are my favorites. Also get some chigger craw trailers with them.Pop-R’s and other top-waters are something you should think about. Shad colors are the best. The rest should be bought up in a few crankbaits, and spinnerbaits, along with other soft plastic baits, and hooks/sinkers/swivels/etc.

Prolly need some colorful iron-that’s spoon-shaped jigs for jigging rockfish. Also plenty of lead-1-2 pounders for getting the bait down quickly.Assortment of snap/swivels and circle hooks. Also some shrimp jigs of various colors.Don’t forget a good thick glove and a pair of needlenose pliers for handling your catch. Take a burlap sack for your catch. A disposable digital camera and a tape measure/scales will verify those you caught and released. Some anti-seasick pills and some SPF-30 or higher sunscreen can be real life-savers, should you need them.

Bass: Myself I am a big fan of the pig n jig, swimbaits. and I love scumfrogs. For right now though I would stick with the jigs, maybe some finesse worms.Brim: I think you got it there. Carp: you can go to your local bread store, mine on tuesdays and you can get a trashbag of bread thats past its expiration for $2.00.

What kind of fishing are you planning to do? That is extremely important.Every tackle box needs a pair of long-nose pliers and a small first-aid kit, though!

Don’t get rid of them!!! Plano just put out a sealed latching box just for Gulp style products that protects from leaks and smells. I put a link to it from Plano and Tacklewarehouse. Gulp is good stuff I just used for the first time this year for bass but I hear it works even better for saltwater. It’s the Liqua Bait Locker System by Plano.

Here’s my advice on fishing in the heavy wind. Since you have tried most everything and had limited success, I doubt that any other lure suggestion will help that much. So that tells me your location is the problem I always pick a bank or inlet the wind is blowing the waves into, because the bait fish are being blown into it also. Bass in turn will feed on the bait fish in this situation. From March to the 1′st of June the wind blew daily in my area without hardly missing a day.Usually 20-25 mph. My best catches were always in the areas I described.I can only assume the bass were feeding on the bait fish that was forced against the bank and into the coves.Try it and see if your luck doesn’t change. They bit almost every lure I threw at them- spinner bait, rattle trap, bandit crank bait, and Texas rigged Zoom Baby Brush Hog with a sliding 1/4 ounce sinker.I like to use the heavier sinker when the wind is really kicking up Good luck!

beanbag,I will try to make a list of some of the more common freshwater species of fish, along with baits and lures for these fish. Here I go ~Largemouth Bass – Baits : minnows, bluegill, worms, crayfish. Lures : crankbaits, spinnerbaits, in line spinners, soft plastic creature baits, jigs, spoons, lip less crankbait, poppers, buzz baits, walk-the-dog style baits/AKA cigar baits, and there’s probably a few more that I forgot to mention.Smallmouth Bass – Baits : hellgrammites, minnows, worms, crayfish. Lures : refer back to “Largemouth Bass” above. Smallmouth like the same lures, just in smaller sizes.Channel Catfish – Baits : worms, stink bait, dough bait, hot dogs, chicken liver, cheese, crayfish, minnows. Catfish are not often caught on lures.Bluegill – Baits : worms, bread, hot dogs, crickets. Lures : in line spinners, soft plastic grubs and tubes, small crankbaits.Carp – Baits : worms, bread, corn, crayfish. Carp don’t often take lures.Walleye – Baits : minnows, worms, leeches. Lures : crankbaits, spinner rigs tipped with a large grub or ‘crawler, in line spinners, grubs or minnow style soft plastics. Those are most of the main fish you see in lakes. A good overall set-up is a bobber, sinker, hook, and worm. You could catch about any fish I named above with that rig.
