I’ve been a bit slow on posting reviews of the last couple of Lure Northern, but it’s time to catch up. Overall, the Lure Northern was great, and I have no problem recommending Lure Northern for anyone wanting one.

Tony Grove is nice….actually, Tony Grove is the name of the closest campground, but from there, there are trails leading to all kinds of lakes and ponds. I think the main lake is called White Pine Lake or something like that – and as far as I know, that’s the only one that DWR stocks (with trout). Usually nothing too big there, but it’s pretty reliable for catching at least *something*. They mostly hit on Powerbait or the occasional nightcrawler. Per the Forest Service, this is how you get there: In Garden City, UT, at intersection of State Rt. 30 and US Rt. 89, take Rt. 89 south 18.4 miles to Tony Grove Recreation Area sign. Turn right at sign and then take an immediate left and go 6.8 miles to campground on the right. Then the lake is maybe a mile’s walk from the campground, is all.Other than that, anywhere you want to pull off the road next to the upper Logan River and drop a line is probably is as good as the next place…DWR stocks several locations along the river with rainbow trout of various sizes. Here’s DWR’s website for their fishing reports: http://wildlife.utah.gov/hotspots/reports_nr.phpHope this helps. Good luck.

The “cheapest”, most effective, lure you could purchase would probably be Jigs in various sizes and Berkley Gulp plastic grubs in various colors. I’ve caught every type of fish species in Canada on a Black 1/4 OZ Jig/Black Gulp curly tail grub.Gulp is an outstanding biodegradable bait that has an INTENSE fish attracting scent. Here’s a link – http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_10213571____SearchResults Here’s a quality jig- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_89984____SearchResultsHere are a few other popular lures:1. Hope this helps ya?

Heres a tip for you and everyone else who likes to fish for pike. Instead of using rapalas, use storms original thundersticks. Thundersticks are made of hard plastic instead of balsa wood. With the hard plastic, the pike will slam the lure and will have a harder time penetrating the lure with its teeth. Thus you get a much better hookset as the lure has an easier time sliding through its mouth. With the rapala, the balsa wood is soft and as im sure youve seen, the pikes teeth pretty easily penetrate the surface of the lure. You dont get as good of a hookset meaning possible lost fish. Try em…ive caught many pike bass and muskeys on them. Try twitching them on the surface for explosive topwater action as well. If youre going for pike keep the colors loud and gaughty. they love that.Try spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, topwater plugs like pop-Rs and zara spooks, crankbaits, spoons, mepps…the damn things are so aggressive theyll pretty much eat anything. Also try Powerpro superline. Best fishing line there is in my opinion. Really hard for em to bite you off. Also…buy good quality gear. It might cost you a little more but if youre gonna fish you dont want some cheap rig breaking or failing on you. I use quantom, abu garcia, or shimano reels and the rods i use are either falcon, g-loomis, or st. croix. Its worh the money to not have to worry about failing equipment.

Red devil spoons, big 6 inch shiner, if your a begginer you can use the banjo minnow 006 its good, big swimbaits swimming over weeds on the bottom of the lake bed, also frogs going over lily pads will drive pike crazy

Walleyes will go for bright crankbaits, spoons, and spinner rigs tipped with leeches, minnows, or nightcrawlers.Pike will go for big spoons, in-line spinners, and crankbaits. The number one bait for Pike would be a 3/4oz red & white Daredevil spoon, while the number one for Walleye would be a nightcrawler behind a chartreuse spinner rig.

My home lake (the one my campground is on) has tons of small to medium sized northerns. We have had one that looked to be a record breaker a while back while he was ice fishing, but not a trophy catch since. I always catch small northerns on senkos while fishing for bass. That mightbe somethin you wanna try (and you’ll also get some great bass)good luck!

Know this ain’t goin’ ta’ help much, but used ta’ fish Camanche and New Hogan and all times it be from a boat. At New Hogan didn’t have ta’ pay the high entrance and boat fees, as at Comanche. What is best ta’ use, well that’s goin ta’ depend on what your lookin’ for, if it be trout (Camanche) I use what is called a Cripple-Lure (Shasta Tackle makes them) annnnnd good ol’ reliable Panther Martin, as for Bass I’d give a call ta’ one of their Marina’s for the best plugs, lures, spinner-bait or soft-bait that’s been producin’. There’s two of them, North Shore and South Shore, either one will help ya’ out, their numbers are, 209-763-5166 and 209-763-5915 respectively. “Fish On”…

heres what you do, go to wally world and pick up a shakespeare spinning tiger, they’re 20 bucks and it comes with 12lbs line, then buy some SPLIT SHOT, its a type of removable weight, then go buy some treble hooks, (the ones with the 3 hooks, not just one) I would use eagle claw red treble hooks, they’re kinda small, but I’ve hooked up 40 pound leopard sharks with em, then go to the bait section and get some BALLS O FIRE salmon eggs, tie everything up, it’ll look like this—oo———————-xso it goes, line, weight, more line, hook with eggs, and for those lovely catfish, get bigger treble hooks, they have a spring looking thing on them, that is for bait, then go get some catfish bait (it’s either in a bucket or in a bag, but it all reeks bad so you know it’s catfish bait) do the same setup on your line and throw it out, and wait, before you know it you’ll have a monster fish dragging your boat through the water. you can look anywhere online for fishing knots, they might even have a book or pamphlet or two at wally world, so consider picking one up.

Spinner Baits, Slugos, Deep Diving Rapalas. It all depends how warm the water is. The warmer it is, the deeper they go.

Do they still make them?I used to have some and liked them very much.
