Buying Crankbait Fishing was one of the best investments I ever made. I highly endorse it.
Has anyone ever try fish a slip sinker on a crankbait?
I thought about putting a slip Crankbait Fishing sinker on my line with a crankbait to get it to sink quicker. Will the crankbait still have some of its motion? Has anyone ever tried this ? Let me know how it works

Fish a crankbait around underwater rocks, logs and stumps, over gravel or clay beds or along drop-offs or underwater ledges. To fish it you can use the “yank and crank” method. After casting the lure, get it down where the fish will see it by making a few steady cranks on the reel. Yank the rod back sharply and make a few rapid cranks to get the crankbait to dive and run quickly, then pause briefly and repeat the “yank and crank” to create an erratic and enticing retrieve.or Bump the crankbait off the bottom and bounce it off the sides of rocks, logs, stumps and ledges to imitate injured bait fish. Oh and for color I like to go with natural colors unless the water is really cloudy and muddy then I go with chartreuse.

I love bomber cranks. There are 2 classes for me, shallow and deep. On the shallow Square A model I like to cast near weed line or along side lay downs (fallen trees) and docks. If you can let the lip hit a piece of cover and kill your reel so it will float backward and not hang up that causes a reaction strike. Alos i like to use in the shallows during the pre and post spawn times. Now the Bomber A model I only fish in rocky, sandy bottoms. I will reel the lure down so it roots in the bottom kicking up silt and looks like a bait fish feeding. When I hit a rock or piece of cover I will again stop reeling and allow the bait to float up and clear the cover and keep going. Now if I am going deeper than 6-8 ft I will switch to a Bomber Fat Free Shad. I like to use this in more open water around points and humps. I also like to cast to drop offs and reel up the slope. My favorite bomber colors are threadfin shad and pear shad,I dont know why it’s called pearl it has a green back and side markings. Hope I was able to help give you some ideas and covered the model you are using. The three I mentioned are the only ones I have ever used.

You have two choices, either Gamakatsu as already mentioned OR VMC trebles, both have needle points and both hook up well. Owner also makes some very durable trebles. Don’t attempt to sharpen your hooks as it often only works once then the hooks have to be replaced. Avoid dragging them over rocks if possible and check your hooks after every 6-7 casts on areas with under water structure.http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/pod/horizontal-pod.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/pod-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat20166-cat20291&rid=&indexId=cat20291&navAction=push&masterpathid=&navCount=1&parentType=index&parentId=cat20291&id=0030844VMC also offers a dressed hook, which adds a little more flash to attract fishhttp://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat20166-cat20291&id=0030866319919a&navCount=9&podId=0030866&parentId=cat20291&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=IK&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat20291&hasJS=trueI wouldnt suggest adding a single trailer hook as not only will it make it fish unnatural, but its likely to foul hook the fish.

You don’t need a bobber with a crank bait. It will mess up the way it runs. Just use it solo. Even adding a piece of bait will make a crankbait not run correct.

Terrible? It sounds good to me. You had a quiet afternoon fishing. Sure, catching fish would have been even better, but just fishing is good. NEVER terrible. And heck, you didn’t have to clean fish. I’ve been skunked many times, doing everything right, and have caught fish when no rational person would expect to, and where no fish would ever be. That’s fishing.
